Read for yourselves about the possible delay here. Engadget is a pretty respected site so to me it seems likely that theres some truth in the rumours.
To quote;
"The scuttlebutt at IFA is that the XPERIA X1 has been delayed to the end of the year, and a Sony rep confirmed to us that it's looking like December 2008 or January 2009".

A photoshop job seems unlikely, because lets be honest, what would be the point? The article explains what was seen by many. This happend before the more recent reports that SE are having problems fine tuning the OS, which I posted early today. I really do not want this to be the case, as in the event it's true it will be nearly a year between them announcing the fone and actualy releasing it!

Ash, 31 Aug 2008Yes, but that picture originaly read Jan and was quickly changed, as though to cover up.i dont know which is true but where did you see the picture that the picture has been changed on january? i found the picture in the official SE website...i believe official website than any unofficially SE website you saw...you know photoshop trick...check out the official website that i added before and i hope this is right

if x1 have not released on 0ct 8 or 0ct 10 2008 so x1 will be released on december or january 2009...wait and see..

Apparently its official, the delay has been confirmed by a SE rep. The new release window is Dec 08 - Jan 09.

Back in the spv days i asked orange who did these phones for them and they said HTC..So they must have been licensed back then by microsoft to build smartfones on their behalf..Bil Gates wanted a windows computer in every ome which he nearly has,,i wonder why he did not want to get windows smartfones into everyones pocket plus why did microsoft not build them themselves??

Yeah, the world wide release (selected markets) for the X1 was always 4th Qtr 2008.
Unfortunately for me, I have asked Sony Ericsson Australia about the Australian release and they said it will be January 2009. I have also asked the guys at Sony Central in George St, Sydney and they also said 1st Qtr 2009.
But thats ok, my K850 is still going strong.
This will be a fantastic phone, cant wait to pull it out when people are talking about their iPhones or N96s......

It not sure when it will be released and it is obvious that the reasons are related to the software defects that they can't fix (see the history of HTC similar products).
