i am just curious, if i were Sony Erickson and device would be delayd soo much, than i would seriously upgrade its hardware,w hile the software is on hte fixing.

I don't care much, if they release it on Jan 2009, but that they should put 5 Mpix camara, xeon flash, 8 GB storage, ascelometer. That thing would certanily be worth the wait.

They could also put Windows Mobile 7 on it, while they are at it...

What's the big deal?Sony split from Ericsson . Sony and Ericsson will probably start producing their own models again.Ericsson could be the next HTC as could SONY...hopefully both manufacturers cater for power users which means using Windows Mobile or a linux derivative..anything but SYMBIAN!

SIN, 29 Aug 2008 i hope its only gossip i want this fone will seeI dont know what to think? Its easy if a normal mobile is cancelled their are lots of opportunities to get the same features even if its different manufacturer, but thats whats good about xperia its got no rivals .. On downside we cannot choose anything else at moment because its a poorer option..

So what would i do if it is cancelled well its like the past,,windows cannot match symbian in multimedia power so i would go back to symbian for the next year till windows gets it all in one device sorted,,thats means the innov8 for me..Now i will get comments about this but xperia had battery power to support its features plus cybershot and walkman and that screen and style and with nothing else at that level then i have no option but symbian unless i get i-phone on payg (joking)..

Any one with xperia matching spec can tell me so but their is not yet..

I hope all rumours are rumours cause its xperia for me untill proven otherwise

may be they are trying to raise the prices by doing so and then we will buy X1i at any price they say because we might be afraid of not finding any!

and i still have the question about the key for rotating the screen?(what can we do with that key that the internal acceleometer can`t do?)

Sony Ericsson delays Windows phone to Jan 09
By Tony Smith, 29th August 2008 00:02 GMT

Has Sony Ericsson's eagerly awaited Windows Mobile smartphone, the Xperia X1, been delayed? The company's own website says it has.

A trip to the Sony Ericsson "official e-shop" and its Coming Soon section shows the X1 listed with a release timeframe of "January". Unless the handset's development has gone very much awry, that has to mean January 2009. It appears after phones stated as launching in October 2008. Clicking on the X1's link reveals the phone is down as: "Expected launch: To be announced."

The X1 was announced in February this year. At the time, Sony Ericsson said it would ship in the second half of 2008.

A month later, in March, an entry on another part of the company's website was found to indicate the launch had slipped to February 2009, though Sony Ericsson quickly claimed that this was a mistake.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be the last Windws Mobile phone from Sony Ericsson !
                                  August 28, 2008 [Pocket PC phone] | By Edward J. R.

The first and the last at the same time. But how it is possible?

Howard Stringer (a Brit of Welsh origins) who is the first non-Japanese CEO of Sony - Japanese corporation after all - in latest interviews expressed doubts whether Sony Ericsson joint-venture will survive next few years, notably because cooperation between Sony (responsible for stylish design and user friendly ergonomics) and Ericsson (responsible for high-tech telecommunications) is not going so good as it was only 2 years ago...

So Sony Ericsson XPeria X1 phone may be actually the last Windows Mobile phone from Sony Ericsson and in future it may be called only "Ericsson XPeria X1" because is considering to withdraw from mobile phone market altogether.

In case you have doubts we can recommend HTC Touch Pro that is of similar form factor as X1, but is made by company that has rather bright future - unlike Sony Ericsson...

                                    more SE problems

CEO of Sony contemplating breaking off from Ericsson?

Sony's CEO, Howard Stringe, is said to be thinking of breaking away from Ericsson, who collectively form mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson. Stringer admitted in an interview with a German newspaper that this hadn't been one of their better years - what with poor sales, profit warnings, and the like. He then went on to say said "buying out a partner is never an easy thing", possibly hinting of Sony buying out Ericsson. He said he wants to work alogside Ericsson, and recapture the success they had two years ago - namely with the Walkman and Cybershot line of handsets. Continuing from that sentence, and, most interestingly of all, he said "Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution". So, in a nutshell, it seems if Sony Ericsson cannot recapture the few glory years they had, from 2005-2006, it could very well be that Sony will be giving Ericsson the boot, and going in the mobile phone business alone - and possibly releasing a PSP phone on their own after all.

i know that every1 has their release dates for X1, but after reading alot of news ... i think X1 will remain in labs

i really wanted this phone ...

                                    i hope they release it
