this phone is really amazing has good features... and what's the difference about 16m to 65k can we eat this if this phone has 16million color and the important is it has good features with good design and it has simple and easy to browse using this phone not like NOKIA...

Why would anyone want high speed CSD?Dial up is very old technology and even high speed dial up is very slow.Web browsing on a WVGA resolution device needs a fast internet connection.

Am I reading this wrong or did SE really decide not to give it a high speed CSD connection ! ! ! W.T.F. And how many hours will it work on a full charge with a 500+mhz processor and a 3in screen with so many pixel to lit up and control? It may beat my laptop, not by much thou. I ain't so sure if I should regard this as a true cell or not.

If people are stupid enough to believe their's a notable difference between 65k and 16million colors on a screen no bigger than 3inches then surely the Xperia X1 is not the sort of device for them.

It's hardly just some web publication.Read the article and if you are still unconvinced download the computer App so you can compare, now on a 3inch screen the differences would be negligible. As has been stated numerous times it's the screen resolution that's of vital importance but if your happy with the pathetic QVGA resolution seen on the N-Series so be it.

I see the difference from my own eyes, not from some web publication!

No SE didnt think before building this phone, windows mobile 6.1 only support 65K colors! What a big mistake, there's a huge difference between 65K to 256K and 256K to 16 millions...

With no xenon flash, no TV out and an expensive price of $899USD this phone will not be easy to sell!

xperia x1 have a 528 MHz processor.
this type of processor take a lot of power,
that mean's his battery going down shortly.
only display's pixle&clarity not made a perfect phone.

How amusing! The screen is one of the MAJOR reasons why this device beats other WM pocket pc's.Most mobile phones have QVGA resolution whereas the Xperia has WVGA.The X1 display can show FIVE times more detail/clarity than a p1,p990,n95,n96 etc.

how many of you guys complaining about the 65K colour display really saw 65K color on a (3" WVGA 800*480) ????

X1 pixels per cm^2= 15976
N96 pixels per cm^2= 3265

if you know anything about LCDs and from the calculations above you cant say anything about the X1 display being inferior and out-dated

the Superiorness of that X1 display is proved technically!!

and to you guys that are shouting the 16M color displays in Nokia....: that was the only way for nokia to put up their displays against the SUPERIOR 262K color ones from SE.

-i am not a fanboy... but the SE's 262K displays are perfect in terms of vivid colors and proper contrast.

you will be suprised about how X1 LCD EATs other brand ones....

but that was all about the display... as i think that the X1 could have been better speced. but still a great phone.

and BTW... the release date is officially announced to be about the end of the Q3 2008

This 'phone' will only come next year - with last year's specs. Lets be honest with each other. I like SE, but this is pathetic. Oh my God the camera is only, what 3mp or so. I bet - more viruses will be out there then devices sold - even by the end of next year :) :) :) Let's not forget, Nokia is working on a 3in, S60 touch screen version with wimax and a 7.2mp AF-video 3xoptical zoom . Who the hell whats to buy this WM clone? SE look more and more desperate to bringing out a half decent device to the market after the P990/P1 fiasco. The 'XPERIA' may hint of 'HOPE,' but Alas, the are going the wrong way COMPLETELY .
