It's not easy designing a device to run a robust OS with touchscreen.UIQ was/is fairly basic in comparison with WM6 Professional.I seriously doubt this handset will be fast but I'm willing to bet it will be a million times better than the future s60 touch devices.Nokia and s60 Symbian will probably release some halfway house effort and no doubt the legions of incompetents will be shouting from the rooftops about how good it is!!

Gino, just emagine, 64 000 diffrenet colours? If someone put it in front you zou wouldn't know the differnece. There are many pictires captured with only 64k colour, so you dont need better creen to see them, and internet page has exatly! 64000 colours, so also when browsin yo wouldnt know the difference at all, but when you actualy see some picture, there will be minor difference, but for movies, you won't notice.

This phone looks good. However I don't dare to buy till reading the review of users.I was obsessed with N6500 slide and paying the price now.It sucks maximum.Always hangs even to the extent that i cant answer calls!can you imagine??Nokia is the huge letdown.Waited at service centre for 1 1/2 - 2 hours and take weeks to get it sorted out only for the problem to recur.Nokia,a huge letdown!!

I am very curious of one thing with this phone. It looks fantastic, but here is my 'hitch.'

aGPS... Can I still use this with preloaded software/maps with 0 reception. Important to me the GPS will work with just the satilites, and not be dependant on data service.

Out west (US) there are many, many stretches of roads where cingular/at&t has 0 service.

Thanks in advance for ther replys!

How come with windows OS, it can store only 1000x20 field contact entries only ? Can't it have unlimited contact data in shared memory ?

So much disinformation. First, it is 65k colors (16bit; 2^16). Second, windows mobile DOES support 16M colors. Manufacturers choose not to use it because it is a waste. It would make it take twice as long to draw to the screen, meaning twice the processor work, meaning twice the battery. All for a very marginal barely noticable gain in image quality.

SoSo, you have the right idea, but the effect would not be quite that drastic. Your estimation assumes that the screen is the only thing using the battery.

i think this is gonna be one of Sony's smartest Phones that has come out in years without it being similar to others. I hope it comes out at an affordable price, because i've got my eyes on it and i wont let it go buy me without buying it as soon as it comes out.

The human eye can see 12million colours but the differences on a 3inch screen are minimal. The Resolution is what gives a display real quality.

and human eyes cannot differentiate between 56K and 16mil color. Also, the less color the less energy battery consumed. So hypetheticaly speaking, if 56K Xperia X1 last 5 hours with constant internet surfing, then 16mil may possibly last only 2 hours.

Xperia X1 only supports 56K color because it has Windows Mobile OS. We all know WM only supports 56K color. Unless they remove the WM OS, don't expect a 16mil color. Besides, 56K and 16mil are the same thing on a small 3" screen.
