To people who say poor hardware performance.. your actualy making yourself look bad!! by demonstrating to everybody that you don't know how to configure the phone, if you don't know how to install cab files and flash your phones rom with a decent baked one then maybe you should avoid this phone.. but for everybody else who knows a little about what they are doing, this phone is a dream, its what we all were waiting for, it's the toshiba g900 gone right!! The resolution on this beast is amazing!! as is web browsing, via opera or skyfire of course!

It all boils down to how an individual uses his/her phone. Even 1 GHz phones lag at some point.
Forget about handhelds, PCs with dual core processors and multi GB RAM too lags.
I think its time we stop having sky high expectations from our phones.

Xperia... I think Sony should have branded it as VAIO. It looks a lot like mobile PC, Pocket PC.

ryk, 14 Nov 2009Hey Marcos, I'll surely be buying one within a month. I completely agree with you that no ot... moreI uploaded the Touchflow 3D in to my X1, I've tried it for about a week so far, I have to say that it is better than WIN 6.1 interface. It activates applications fast enough. In the X1 WIN 6.1 it doesn't show you your alarm time, but in the touchflow it tells you right under the current time so that you don't forget the time is set to ring. (Attention to detail)it allows you to set the programs you mostly use in the order you want and also your applications icons.Very user friendly. I have two negative things to say about it: 1.When you flip your phone side ways to use the keyboard it doesn't work. 2. When you go to the weather screen it will automatically activate your phone's media setting to retrieve the weather info. instead of you having control of it, you have to shut it off manually if not, it will stay on indefinitely.
I will like to try WIN 6.5 ROM do you know anything about it? I also recommend "XPERIA Tweak" great little program, can downloaded from here and other useful things for your X1;

I am considering this phone seeing as the prices have dropped now that the X2 is available. The key feature I'm looking for is the push email with MS exchange. Does anyone have any experience with this?

having problem decide X1 or X2?

Xperia X1 is the best phone you can get in hand now. It has all the functions needed and multiple input options(touchscreen, navi pad, optical pad, qwerty keyboard). stylish looking phone with quality material built.

X2 is no much of an upgrade consider still using the same processor as X1 and no radio.also X1 design > X2 imo.

It has lots of application and games as it is using windows mobile. The best of all , it has large modder community which bring whole new xperience for X1( winmo6.5, Touchflo 3D)

However this is not a simple phone for simple usage.
Its rather complicated and take time to fully utilize its offered.

ihave read most of these comments and i think i can offer some insight into this phones viability.

for tech savvy users, expecially those who love to customise their phone through upgrading roms and radios, the xperia has to be one of the best phones made. multiple input methods (navigation keys, optical joystick, touch screen and QWERTY) make this phone unbelievably easy to use. the browsing experiance is simply excellent (opera).

however, if you're after a phone that requires no tweaking, then perhaps winmo is not the os for you.

se's contribution to winmo is what makes the phone so much fun to use. xpanels is awesome! each one transforms ur phone into a hardcore multimedia device. but winmo drags itback down, making it feel primative at times.

id recommend winmo 6.5, as its touchscreen menu seems much more finger friendly.

i would say it's a brilliant phone, but i dohave a love hate relationship. stick with se standard os, or nokias e series symbian for professional use.
