I bought this phone at the start of the year and it was my pride and joy...Now it is my worst nightmare. The software crashes all the time especially when you try to use the keyboard so I have had to stick with using my stylus all the time (still crashes doing this though) which is a pain. Poking pretty fast has become a transferable skill.
It does not synchronise without error on Windows Vista and the software update is a pain to apply without hard resetting the phone, even doing so, it doesn't work on Vista but does on XP.
Worst of all is the microphone is broken subjecting me to the use of my Bluetooth headset all the time, so much so I've got a constant ear ache.
As it's still less than a year old I sought warranty information and could find none so I got in contact with Sony Ericsson and they have asked to send my phone in for repairs which is good and I will be doing so as soon as I can get a temporary replacement.
To be honest I was looking forward to the X2 but now I am seriously considering defecting from Sony Ericsson whom I have always patronised.

joe, 10 Oct 2009hi guys! please i need help. my phone has a big E Sign on top of the screen and it keeps conne... moreThe E as far as I know, just tells you that there is a network available.

If you want to change things....
Click on the E with your stylus. It brings up "Connectivity" dialog box.
Read the info...e.g. mine says
"There are no data sessions active. Programs connect automatically as needed. To change connection settings, tap Settings". There is also a link to the Comm Manager.

Start>Settings>Connections>Comm Manager can be used to stop the phone connecting to networks (e.g.airplane mode). Applications such as email may also have their own connection schedule.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2009this is the best phone of 2008 and of 2009, until came the samsung b7610 qwerty phone. wow!!!I strongly disagree.

This is an amazing electronic device, but to say it is a "phone" is stretching it.
I paid through the nose for this 'phone'. It can do practically anything you would ask of it, but it is *highly* un-user friendly & sluggish for what you'd expect.
In a call you dont even have the keypad available - you have to turn it on!!! Doh! I'm in a phone call, and there's no keypad? It's very annoying when calling an automatic menu system. The reception is atrocious! Phones 10 years ago were better - no joke. The software was poorly designed from a usability perspective. There are applications that claim to be finger-friendly but require the use of the stylus for menus!? The frequently used reset button (Windows crashes regularly) is accessed by removing the 'phone' back cover, which means if you have it in a case it is even more fiddly & time consuming to do. No image stabiliser in the camera means candid shots are normally blurred, if you can start the camera in time to snap them.

Instead of fixing the issues the X2 is being released it seems. No sale.

It's a good phone to look flash with and show off, but if you want productivity get a Blackberry. I'm replacing mine.

Karim:

This phone do support ARabic and all major languages, infact the answer to most of the questions which asked about different softwares real player, core player, word , pdf documents and alot more.

I will give them a simple answer this Xperia is not a simple mobile, its Windows Mobile, it can make all the software working/ and other operations just as you can do on your computer windows. There are thousands of softwares available just like Microsoft XP, Vista, 98. So dont get hesitate to buy if you are looking for any particular software for Xperia.

Regards
Jade
