if you like N97 better over X1 then X1 is just not the phone for you. Personally i would never changed X1 to buy N97. my coworker has N97 and I have X1 and Im glad he bought N97 so i could get shure that Xperia is better then N97. Ikm using it for Internet, for chating for sending e-mails, sms and for calling. And im nuts abount WM. cant wait for 6.5 to get outh officialy. im deffinitly not buying a symbian phone. 5800xpress music i sold after just 2 days. did not liked the UI to simple, to boring. im only buying phone with windows mobile. next its X2 or omnia pro

i just got an x1 for a week now. but i am really having problems with the battery life. currently the battery life can only stay as long as 6-15 hours.
6 hours if i use:
-a bit of calling (calling 4-7x for 5 mins. max.)

1) has only one speaker. if someone calls and if you are in busy streets, you will never notic the ringtone even if the volume is full.
2) vibrator is very poor.
3)phone gets hanged while messaging.
4) gps is very poor
5)if you use led illumination and touch scroll button,it will drain battery very quickly.
6)for everything stylus is compulsory. touch menus and tabs are very small.
7) has some issues with bluetooth
8)camera is very sensitive. it cannot capture images in motion.
9) applications are complicated and confusing.
10) processor is very slow.

Mine crashes all the time when writing a text message the screen freezes 10 secs later it seems to spring back to life anyone else had this problem

A popping up message is only a special purpose application with a cool interface or design.

You can find it on the xda developers page. I´m an Xperia user since 5 months ago, and believe me, there is no way to compare my standard ROM with the new custom one, it´s amazing, is a different phone, and now it worths all the money I payed for it.

Windows Mobile 6.5 is not available as an official update and probably it never will. Take a look at xda-developers to upgrade to unofficial 6.5 ROM.
It can record phone conversation but am not sure if built-in software is able to do that. For sure you can use third-party app.
Phone batter is charging when connected to USB. Even original charger has an USB connectors so only one cable is needed.

there is an option in usb connection mode place check on allow charging when connected to pc and then it will allow u to charge with pc.

in the Knight Rider 2008 episode "Knight To King's Pawn" (aka. Episode 12) you see Sarah Graiman using the Xperia X1 on the beach. however, the operating-system, and/or interface, DOES NOT look like Windows Mobile. does anyone know what operating-system and/or interface she's using on the Xperia X1 in that episode? (I suspect it's Windows Mobile but tweaked somehow, because in Episode 1, "A Knight in Shining Armor", when KITT sends a message to her saying "Michael needs to talk to you. Please go to pod room for private channel" (something along those lines), you can CLEARLY see that it's the Windows Mobile operating system)

I am using Gtrab's SEX1 rom for for more than a month (since it became available) with WM6.5 and are very happy. I HATED the small menu's etc of 6.1
PLEASE note that 6.5 is NOT official yet and do have some issues - I did not experience any except the battery drain is higher- could also be the other software I'm running. The SEX1 rom do have some nice tweaks etc included for the Camera etc.

Remember to Hard SPL your phone first and then do a boot from the memory card. Info on xda website.
I also use SBP interface (commercial) as well as hTorch, Pocket Dictate and others.
The only downside for me is the reception. It is not as good as my old P990i

I recently bought Xperia, and updated its firmware via the update software of sony ericsson. The Operating System in the xperia is 6.1. Is the windows mobile 6.5 available for Xperia officially?
If it is how i can updated Xperia to windows mobiles 6.5, anylinke or details will be appreciated.

It’s clear that SE designers were bit plastered when they designed this unit. Anyway it’s a nice phone just the memory issue. They are discounting because apparently a new face lift version is on the pipeline.
