Mr Brightside, 23 Mar 2010Some real bugs in the review mentioned by Engadget.
A dealbraker for me...check out droiddog's review on youtube:
No hint of lag on the keyboard, in fact it seems incredibly responsive.
I've also never seen any hint of lag on any other recent vid of the X10 either......
Some real bugs in the review mentioned by Engadget.
A dealbraker for me...
The on screen keyboard have some real bugs says the review from engadget. It's a shame....

Nexus One's basic 5 megapixel snapper:
HTC Desire with cheaper price and better AMOLED screen will beat this phone. 4" screen is too big in pocket either. 5MP camera in Desire is also enough for most usage. Another wrong design from SE.
Anonymous, 23 Mar 2010Samsung devices are great when were talking about hardware. But man! They're support was just ... moreI agree its as if here in uk over past 6 years the website has been out of date an useless,,all you get samsung fun club support with it annual easter hunt and ringtones,,thats really helpfull..I emailed once about z710 and it seemed like i was wrong cause they never have this model ???
phones fan, 22 Mar 2010as i know the phones that support PowerVR SGX graphics are nokia n900,SE satio, palm pre, omnia ... moreSamsung devices are great when were talking about hardware. But man! They're support was just so lame. Samsung is so f^ck up with that. So much so if you're from Asia. Fw updates is sooo late to almost none existence. That is why you're only option is to flash and flash and flash. From my experience...flashing repeatition can lead to hardware damage to brickage. That is why I'm sooo over and fed up with Samsung even if they come up with great spec'd devices.
It will be outmoded in 6 months yet your signing up for 2 yrs?? It used to be in uk 25GBP for 12 months now its seems everywhere wants 35GBP for 24 months..No thanks im sim free prepay and if you cannot afford it sim free wait for a while to drop in price and save up in the mean time..This 24 months contract will kill people stuck with it so when they come to renew it and know what 24 months feels like they wont sign again,,so if you can only afford this on a massive contract your stuck with it for 2 years and if you cannot afford it sim free then your spending above your means really but sim free you can sell after 1,2,3,4,5,6 months and get the next fone..
In 6 months time were getting near the christmas fone line up and all the new goodies but you will still have 18 momnths left on your contract..The MWC will arrive with all the new goodies and you will still have 12 months left..Then 2011 christmas line up will be here and you wont be able to upgrade again ..Not for me and glad to be out of it.
.On t-mobile prepay for 10GBP i get unlimited internet or 500MB and unlimited txt (3000) so with the few fone calls i make the 10 GBP suffices..If you need big minutes or the lot please search round and get the best deal for your contract so you gain..I know its up to you, i know that, i just want to put some perspective out there for people to think instead of just rushing in and signing on the dotted line..Thanx Brynn
noname101, 22 Mar 2010i do agree to the previous post, spec of Desire is better than X10 in SOME area, but it all bo... moreas i know the phones that support PowerVR SGX graphics are nokia n900,SE satio, palm pre, omnia HD,and of course the iphone,
i've read that the snapdragon processor does not support the PowerVR SGX but the new samsung hummingbird processor support that.
so the initial version will have all the fequencies or just the uk feq?
pH1, 22 Mar 2010depends on what u like more in a phone. heres a comparison of what i think is important:
-s... morei agree with u about most of what have u said, but i would like to add that the normal amoled screen has better image quality ,the best for watching movies, but it fails when it comes to the sun light eligibility(i do not know about the desire screen specifically),regarding the UI i prefer SE mediascape and timescape but we have to wait to see if there is lagging or not..(1 second accepted).
and for the design i think the X10 is the winner.
This review says the X10 has some big issues!
SE fan since GF786, 22 Mar 2010why not even one clamshell model never has autofocus- that is a big mistake - AUTOFOCUS MUST B... moreI agree with what you say i love clamshells and s/e w610 got superb 2mp autofocus in slim shell so is possible,,2-3 mp is enuf for 6x4 print.
I have heard about the refresh rate or cycle rate as the system scans continuously for any input or change in the capacitence of the screen but never knew it was important tho..Is that why you can overtake the system if you type fast and then you end up with typos..
During our time with the X10, we have at times noticed that the touchscreen has not responded as rappt which we are accustomed to when we have used the example Nexus One, Magic or HTC Huawei U8220. We have not really been able to put my finger on what exactly is causing this behavior, but above the benchmark may give us a clue. What is measured here is how high refresh rate monitor works with - that is, how often it updates the coordinates of your finger movements, and X10 are working in a much lower frequency than the competition. Perhaps this can explain a thing or two problems with delays and a degree of insensitivity?
From a review...
i do agree to the previous post, spec of Desire is better than X10 in SOME area, but it all boils down to personal preference, for me I do prefer X10 (slightly only) over Desire coz of the slick design of X10 and its music player, i think it's better than desire..i think. BUT Desire has a larger storage capacity (up to 32GB), and bigger ROM??
does anyone of you knows what is the ROM of X10? it's a pity that X10 can only handle up to 16GB of storage. also, iphone uses PowerVR SGX graphics, Desire and X10's spec didnt mention what it uses.
And if the price between the 2 phone is really that big, i would prefer the cheaper one. ofcourse :)
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970depends on what u like more in a phone. heres a comparison of what i think is important:
htc desire wins. its smaller than the x10, but its got more dpi (more crisp images), amoled (simply better than tft and good 4 bat life), 16mil colors and multitouch out of the box. se will eventually hv 16mil and multitouch as well, but wen? idk
-performance & ui:
hard to say but seems to me as tho sense ui is simpler than se's which demands less processing power and also the desire comes with more ram. however, se's ui also has its advantages with stuff like mediascape, timescape... by contrast htc has designed several widgets for their ui. so its a close call.
se x10 wins. more mpx cam, with more features and better video recording.
se x10 wins. its simply got a better battery life
htc desire wins. its got radio, dolby sound enhancement, digital compass, a dedicated search button, an optical trackball (not essential but a nice addition nevertheless). se x10 i think has trackid, but it lacks the other extras the desire has.
htc desire wins. its 200 euro cheaper (currently where i live), and idk y theres such a big dif btwn the 2 phones.
tough call. personally i dont think the x10 is currently worth 200 euro more than the desire especially considering it needs to be updated from last yrs android 1.6 to this yrs android 2.1. that said i wud w8 until both go on sale (in april) and see what other ppl prefer and what reasons they give for their preference. i dont think ur desperate 4 a new phone so y rush?
Roi, 22 Mar 2010i have a bunch of questions...
first off, does the color have to be blue? i mean can u change... more"first off, does the color have to be blue? i mean can u change it?"
--> idk but i hvnt seen anything other than blue.
"second, can it 100% be upgraded to android 2.o or 2.1?"
--> yes, wen se launch the update. till then ur stuck with 1.6. se hvnt given a release date for the update (as far as im aware).
"third, can you download any games on this phone?"
--> yes from the android market place, just like all android phones. also android shud get flash support for web browser, allowing u to play most of the games and videos u can on a pc, over the internet.
"and last, can u recommend this over htc hd2 or over the iphone?"
--> i wud recomend this vs htc hd2 for a few reasons:
1. winmo 6.5 is pathetic in comparison to android. ur probably not wanting a phone for business purposes or productivity, which is the only thing winmo is good at. (in my opinion)
2. u probably wont get the update to windows 7
3. app support. currently a lot more apps r available for android and most of them r free. on winmo they r not
4. winmo 6.5 is limited to 65k and on a screen that size, the color limitation is noticeable making it worse for photos, videos, games...
recomend this over iphone? u hv got 2 b kidding me. iphone isnt in even in the same league as the x10. the iphone is basically a list of poor specs/features with a popular os and at a premium price. in my opinion the only reason ppl will buy an iphone is cos of the appstore on it. that, and the shiny apple logo on the back of course.
another alternative u might be interested in is the htc desire. i wud say it rly depends on taste which u shud choose, bcos both r gr8 android phones. but keep in mind that the htc desire is 200 euro cheaper for pre order (currently where i live) than the se x10 and idk if the x10 shud be priced 200 euro more than the htc desire, bcos the difference btwn the cost of the components needed to make both phones is probably not that much.
