You need pc or laptop to download updater software from sonyericsson website into your pc. Then, by following the step-by-step instructions it will guides you to upgrade your phone that been connected to the pc.
Installing an antivirus is good for smartphone, but I personaly think it may not necessary. Most viruses (98%) actually are designed to attack computers, so the best antivirus to clean the smartphones are also the same ones which have been installed in our computer.

But the "partner company" was pointed to ST-Ericsson, and the chip they are working on will be used someday by any mobile manufacturer that buying the patents from ST-Ericsson.
