Sony was a dominant force in the handheld console market with its PSP and PS Vita and it seems the company is looking to get back into making portable gaming hardware. A new report details the PlayStation Q Lite handheld device, which is still in its QA testing phase. The new handheld device is described as a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller with an 8-inch LCD screen in the middle, but the catch is that it will only work with Sony’s PlayStation Remote Play.
The device will be able to stream PS5 games, but will not be able to play games on its own without an internet connection. There's no confirmation if it will be able to work with other cloud-based gaming platforms. Based on the provided info, Sony’s upcoming PlayStation handheld could be similar to the Nintendo Wii U GamePad which connects to the Wii U via a modified low-latency Wi-Fi protocol and allows you to play your games on a smaller screen as long as you are on the same network as the console.
Project Q Lite will feature adaptive triggers, speakers, volume buttons and a 3.5mm audio jack. The screen will support 1080p resolution at 60fps. Sony is expected to launch its new handheld device just after the upcoming PS5 with a detachable disc drive which is expected this September and before the PlayStation 5 Pro announcement rumored to take place in late 2024.

If it's an always online device, dont bother. The new AMD Z1 APU is super powerful and they should be able with little modification (maybe just GDDR6) to make a device that can run all PS4 games in some type of compatibility mode (like PS5 does)...
If you're going to absolutely need an internet connection to play games or actually enjoy this gaming console, it isn't going to go over so well. Firstly there's still several of people who haven't an internet connection to really...
