Sony stops selling the Xperia 1 VII to fix some issues

Sony Android

Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 VII, its latest flagship smartphone, in May, and it's already been available in Japan for a while now. However, today the company has announced that it's temporarily suspending shipments and sales of the device in its home market.

This is due to many reports of Xperia 1 VII units turning off by themselves, randomly rebooting, and even not turning on. Obviously, any one of those three is a huge problem individually, but apparently all of them are currently happening in the wild.

Sony stops selling the Xperia 1 VII to fix software issues

To those who have an Xperia 1 VII that won't turn on, Sony suggests holding both the power button and volume up button for about 20 seconds to recover it, and then applying the latest software update. If that doesn't help, then Sony is advising people to contact its support staff.

Detailed instructions for the software update procedure are provided at the Source linked below. Interestingly, while Sony implies that the latest update will fix the issues, it also, in the same page, says that it's still investigating what's causing them. So maybe the software update is more of a precautionary thing, and not an actual solution. We'll let you know how this situation develops.

Thanks for the tip, Josip!

Yes, because talking about Samsung, a company that is expereincing even fewer cases of incidents, would definitely help Sony look a lot better lol. It's also worth mentioning that phone explosions could also be caused by faulty or non-standard-c...

Isn't that the same since Sony Ericsson? They used Arima, Quanta and Compal to design and manufacture their phones, then later shifted to Wingtech since the Xperia X1.

Make use of its warranty, as long as it lasts. Otherwise, it's a waste of money.
