Sony Rumors Various

Sony's next flagship wireless buds have been on our radar for some time now. And thanks to a recent massive leak, we already had a pretty good idea what to expect. Now we get a clearer picture, still, thanks to an official promo video that recently leaked. It goes over all of the major features of the WF-1000XM4 buds.

The buds have a brand new custom V1 processor, as well as new drivers. Active noise cancelling should be better than ever, thanks to an internal and external dual feedback noise reduction module. Among other things, the video showcases a speak-to-chat feature, as well as automatic adaptive noise cancelling and pass-through profiles and location-based, user-customizable ones.

Some other highlights from the feature list include support for the High-res Bluetooth connection standard, also Hi-Res Audio, 360 Reality Audio and DSEE EXTREME sound optimization technology. The WF-1000XM4 have the same hands-free functions as their over-ear Sony WH-1000XM4 siblings, including dual host connection and bone conduction microphones with Precise Voice Pickup feature that significantly improves the in-call audio quality. The WF-1000XM4 are also IPX4 certified and should be perfectly ok with rain. Both Alexa and Google Assistant area supported.

Sony promises 8 hours of battery life on the buds themselves, and a total of 24 hours with the battery inside the charging case, which means it is good for two full recharges. Charging the case itself can be done via USB Type-C or wireless Qi. Charing should also be quote fast, with an advertised 60 minutes of battery life for just 5 minutes of charging.

Still no official word on pricing or availability, but we expect you will be able to get the WF-1000XM4 in black gold or platinum silver very soon for around EUR 280. Or right around EUR 30 more than their XM3 predecessors.

actually, nothing to do with licencing fees, newer sony headphones uses mediatek chips for the bluetooth codecs which simply don't support aptx hd or aptx, this was confirmed within walkman blog

You happy with the TWS doesn't mean the quality is up there... That's just mean you're happy with what you got but that doesn't determine the quality..
