I like the diversity and I want to avoid the cheap plastic on a 1k EUR device...

The only reason for which I didn't order this phone yet is that they seem to refuse to put wireless charging on Sony smartphones... Also an audio jack would still be useful. Otherwise, I still use the old XZ Premium (first 4K display on a smartphone and still one of the few) and after all this time, all I can say about it is: Premium :)
So I will take advantage on the incredibly good XZ Premium and I will wait for the next flagship from Xperia series... Hopefully there will be some improvements... But anyway, if I would have to replace my phone now, even so, Xperia 1 would still be my first choice...
The bloggers/reviewers still spread different opinions around about the camera setup... But I would still chose the most important producer of camera lenses in the world... Maybe they could improve a bit also the camera software and then I will order it for sure.

Boring UI? Use a different launcher. It's an android phone you can change everything.

Samsung design is like toys more than a gorgeous phone, unlike Sony design it is gorgeous nothing like a flash/fragility toys.

Xperia 1 is the best Sony phone. I wait to buy a new phone until I' tested iphone 11 pro and note 10+. Xperia 1 has the best display and image quality. But the most important is how u interact and how u "feel" the phone. It has also a natural elegance.

I had to charge 4 times a day.I have the same phone for almost 2 years now and I don't have a problem with the battery. You need to understand how this generation of batteries work. The trick is not to wait until the battery is down to 0%, because then you've used one full cycle. Also, don't overcharge it. The battery usually has around 500-700 cycles and after that it starts dying. Try to keep the power between 20% and 80%, ideally 40-60%.
I learned this the hard way, as well.
