Got the phone for testing today and was VERY positively surprised: The OLED screen is the best screen I ever had, lacking only in terms of max brightness in daylight. It's beautiful. The cameras are color accurate and VERY good, this time even the software works out nicely. Ultrawide shots get automatically perfectly angle corrected, this is awesome. Less awesome: No 21:9 photos possible, despite the phone being in that format. And the lesser Xperia 10 supposedly can do that, it boggles the mind. The size is exactly the same wideness (7,2cm) as my Xperia XZ had, it just got lengthened. The fingerprint sensor is now dead center, and as it is is not so wide you can one-hand use it, you just have to shift your hand up and down a little. The size or rather length is a problem though, it might not fit in any pocket without problems anymore, at least not without sticking out more. Battery life seems superb, but have it only for a day yet. Screen should be brighter in daylight, but it isn't, same as my XZ. All in all a very sound phone, the camera is IMO better than that of a S10, but not quite Huawei P30 Pro. Doesn't overdo software color correction and all that. It has no notch, if you want a phone without notch this one might be your best option.
Previous Xperia Z5P owner, Sony camera bad in low light, 4k screen just waste of battery prepare to charge your phone like mad, 3330 mAh battery with 4k screen? is that a joke? UI .... Leave a lot to be desired.
the only plus is it produce very good music with their ClearAudio+ & DSEE HX I yet to find any phone able to achieve that.

At present , P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro are easily the best cameras....Unfortunately, Sony forums are always plagued by Sony fanboys. People come here to hear the pros and cons, but Sony fanboys will always say no problems and argue the facts.

Ali Bashir, 01 Jun 2019Nice review, wait what, p30 still the king? Have you read carefully the article, it says altho... moreYes, both P30 Pro & Mate 20 Pro is still the low light kings in terms of photography for me. If the reviewer describe Xperia 1 low lights is 'what our eyes see', than thats it, its limited. Both P30 & Mate 20 can easily get the 'what our eyes see' as well by using Pro mode. But Xperia 1 cant achieve what P30 Pro capabilities did (excellent dynamic range, highlights preservation, great contrast & minimal color degradation). U cant just fight the hardware goodies on Huawei.
Now i dont know how HDR mode on Xperia 1 results, but previous Xperia eventhough with HDR turned on in low lights, still cant catch up with the competition. I prefer the 'dramatic' & 'street style' low light photography than the 'natural' Xperia 1 provided.
The way photographers winning an award, making ads, put photos on magazine using DSLR regarding low light pics are rarely just by using 'natural' images. Its been always edited to make it looks 'dramatic', 'brighten up' (without sacrificing quality), 'stylized' to become more appealing & 'tells a story'. Thats what Huawei's Leica camera intended at the first place.
To each his own. I prefer low lights on Huawei phone & as of now no other brands made me interested.

Probably 2.1, since there were units at MWC and ufs 3.0 was not available yet.

Xperia 1 uses UFS, whick means it was made by Samsung. Samsung is also the biggest supplier of RAM memory for cellphones.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2019Even sony A7 R3 can't produce true to life images. Had my UK version for a couple of days now, battery so far seems to be around 6 hours SoT before hitting 5%.

Both neat smart screen tech, that saves battery resources, and activates screen enhancements only when needed.
No need for options menus and toggles like other.
