And everybody guessing its P30... :D
21:9 CineAlta and Alpha Xperia 1 tech show.
And typical Sony marketing, as used before. Send a guy on a trip to shoot some video.

OIS helps with all that, and every other phone that ppl say is "better than Sony's" has had it when Sony didn't. So it stands to reason that its inclusion will most certainly make a noticeable difference.

You still guys think that low light shots should be taken at very long shutter speeds?

Brad, 23 Mar 2019I like this old omnibalance design, its a Sony's signature design. XZ2 & XZ3 design change... moreI actually loved both designs. But if I had to choose I guess Omnibalance is best. I mean, why don't ppl whine about Apple? The iPhone hasn't really changed at all since like the 2nd or 3rd one, but you NEVER hear ppl complain about it. Look at all the ones through 2016........they're like identical. And then what, they added A NOTCH and removed the physical home button, and that's supposed to be considered drastic? Sorry, but I'm not giving them ANY credit for adding a notch. I'm just not. lol
For YEARS, Samsung made ugly ass plastic phones when Sony was putting the PRE and premium. lol Now Samsung finally wised up, but Sony was doing it first.
Henry, 23 Mar 2019They need time to fully optimized the software. The new mobile division leader was the one in ... moreI sure hope you're right Henry. lol I was thinking that too, but it still just IRKS ME man that like Samsung releases their flagships like right away. YEAH Sony put out the 10 and 10 Plus right away too, but F man, 3 months??! They ALWAYS do this too (with exception to the Z3).
I think I heard that too, that the new CEO of Sony Mobile brought over the head guy from their camera division to run Mobile. Actually, they officially stated that Mobile is NOW underneath the "umbrella" of the Imaging/Camera Division ftw!
Yeah I don't think it will either. But I'm dying here.............f'ing MAY!! lol
Ali Bashir, 22 Mar 2019It won't, even if it has DSLR performance don't worry. It will definitely perform better. Now we have OIS (finally!), pack lots of features from camera division, also the new mobile ceo was the boss from camera division. He knows what to do.
I like this old omnibalance design, its a Sony's signature design. XZ2 & XZ3 design change was a bad move, but glad they're back in old design.

The new mobile division leader was the one in charge at camera division. I'm sure the camera wont be disappoint this time around.
Last 7 years. Sony has not fixed poor low light camera, low music level, poor design, average battery, ugly design. This phine is way too long n ugly. Failed again! Sony is so stupid.
Nikjosh, 22 Mar 2019Hei, how poor.. XZ3 scores only 79 in DXOmark. I hope this phone does better. It won't, even if it has DSLR performance don't worry.
Recow, 22 Mar 2019When is this thing getting released? Late May, which COULD end up being early June. I really hope they just get it out sooner than later. I don't understand how the Xperia Z3 from Sept 2014 got launched AND released in the same month, but every other phone seems to ALWAYS TAKE 3 months. WHY????!!
Nikjosh, 22 Mar 2019Fyi the real problem is sony mobile bad skills, others also buy camera sensor from sony, but t... moreExactly Nikjosh! But that WAS the problem in the past.............not anymore though. By limiting so much what features go into their Xperia cameras, Sony Mobile tended to lag behind at least the very best competitors, but literally every individual point you mentioned has been remedied ftw. Further in-house development (Mobile is now OFFICIALLY a part of and under Sony's Imaging Dept!, which is a tremendous PLUS if you ask me), the Xperia 1 will feature a TRIPLE lens (the XZ2 Premium had a dual, and it was their best camera ever, even beating out the single-lensed XZ3 which came out after), the 1 WILL have OIS on 2 of it's 3 cameras (normal/wide and telephoto will have it, the ultra wide one won't, which is ok by me), the aperture on the main "normal/wide" camera will be f1.6 (I think you meant make it smaller, not bigger, as smaller is better), which compared to their last several phones is the smallest aperture for the MAIN camera on an Xperia flagship yet! And lastly, the 1 will have "2X Zoom" which is a new feature, and with regards to better lenses.........instead of utilizing a 48 MP lens, it was explained that by instead going with a Triple Lens Setup of 3 "12 MP" lenses, the end results will actually come out with even SHARPER photos! So to me, that's every box being checked off! lol
Sony seems to be constantly updating their software, and the fact that you have all these new features means that's a certainty as you'd need updated software in order to properly execute these features flawlessly.
Well we'll see. I really don't see any reason not to think it won't be fantastic. The XZ2 Premium's camera was great, but b/c of no OIS, it still wasn't the best at low-light shots (though still VERY good b/c of the super high ISO). With this camera having OIS and other benefits, I think it will at least be the best Sony Xperia phone yet. One thing Sony has been great at is color accuracy, even over Samsung and perhaps Apple, if not Huawei too. Samsung in particular tends to oversaturate its photos, which in many cases ends up diminishing color accuracy, which is something I don't really like. If I take a picture with emerald green in it, I wanna see EMERALD GREEN in the photo too, not lime green.
I am curious to know how this long phone will behave in a bent test. Hope Sony took some precautions.
After Samsung S8 comes S9 and then S10 and it makes sense, do you think after Sony XZ3 is XZ4? NO, comes Sony Xperia 1, why 1? maybe that's the number of seconds they thought of naming it.
RockStar2005, 22 Mar 2019I have great confidence that it will actually tEZ. I owned the XZ3 for a couple weeks right af... moreFyi the real problem is sony mobile bad skills, others also buy camera sensor from sony, but they develop it further in house, make it dual/triple camera, add ois, make it bigger apperture, add better lenses etc from so long ago.
Yes the help of alpha team is a big advantage. They finally catch up. But it seem as the the hardware is kind like a safe configuration. I hope the software will be new, new algorithm and play with image stacking etc, not only borrow some stuff like eye autofucus etc. For now i predict it wont surpass mi mix 3.
