With such stupid TV remote control like designs and extreme prices, Xperia put last nails in coffins. Same with other Sony products. No one buys their sound systems, TV, home theaters or cameras anymore. Better alternatives available in much less price. Sony show rooms have an offensive attitude towards customers.

That's the reason Sony Xperia flopped and wiped out from Pakistani and Indian markets. Once Sony Ericson ruled in Pakistan better than any other brand. But the stupid design ideas, non serious esthetics and poor looks, high prices and no resale value caused its downfall. No one buys Sony now. Oppo, vivo, xiaomi and qmobile came much later and became popular AF

No, xperia 2 wont have QHD res, I too read somewhere about rumored flagship 18:9 device QHD res, this will not be xperia 1 successor, its another device. Xperia will always step up, I'm sony fans too you know, this happened to me when xz2 came out. Yay 18:9 and smaller bezels, so I bought it but then 3 months later xz3 came out with an OLED QHD screen, I was like damn... if only I waited for a bit...
If you like this xperia 1 go ahead get it, its an excellent device based from the specs, definitely a huge step up from xz3. Im sticking to my xz2 till I see xperia 2 so I wont regret anymore.

I notice sonymobile has done these strategy:
1. Quit from south east asia ---> Done.
2. Quit from south, southest asia, and middle east -- done.
3. Quit from most asian countries ---> Done.
4. Will be focus only in europe and east asian countries ---> will be done.
5. Quit from east asian countries ---> sure it will happen
6. Quit from europe and from the world --> this will be the last step.

Under the leadership of the new ceo, it will be scaled down again until vanish (no more phone business).
The new ceo is smarter than the old one.

I used to HATE big phones, but that was back in the "stone ages" (aka 16:9 days lol). I tried out the 16:9 LG V20 and was like F this is too big, so I returned it. A year later the 18:9 LG V30 came out with an even BIGGER screen and it just felt perfect in my hand.
I held the Xperia 10 Plus in my hand and played around with it too at a Best Buy last week. I absolutely LOVED how it felt, and loved even more how incredible watching videos was on it. Watched the 21:9 4K trailer for "Avengers: Infinity Wars" on it, and it looked f'ing AMAZING man! So when the Xperia 1 comes out and I see this stuff in 4K HDR OLED, I may not recover! LOL

If I was CEO I'd be doing the EXACT same thing. Scale back..........push to integrate all the different depts..........etc. He's doing ALL of that!
Only thing I would FURTHER do is in the U.S. I'd start marketing as much as I could AND also start selling through carriers again. It's TIME Sony!! Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

I'm not waiting for the 2. I'm COUNTING THE DAYS until the 1's finally released! lol

It is said to have a lower resolution screen.......QHD vs. 4K............and also a slightly smaller battery.........3000 mAh.
So yeah...........no need to wait. lol I'm 100% gonna get the 1, and if it meets my standards, I will keep it too. If not, it will go back and I'll figure it out from there. My current phone is the OnePlus 6T with GCam camera mod.
