Alien , 16 Mar 2019What's the purpose of taking 4K photos and videos if you can't view them on the device you're ... moreYes, that's the only way to make advantage of 4K videos. Some people want to edit there videos professionally or they make family video's to be able to watch on a big screen later in the years. I still have videos from years ago (full HD), its nice to be able to watch good quality after 20 years for example or show it to your kids.
Otherwise its of no use to make video's with your 6.5 inch screen, you just cant see the difference between QHD, FullHD+ and 4K on a 6.5 inch screen, because of the limit of the eye.
Simply try it with your current phone, try to change resolution.
Everything is ok.
But 167mm?????????? To long. Is this mobile?
Need 1 more size variant which will be Xperia 1s (6inc screen and body will be under 150mm x 70mm x 7.8mm )
SONY Please do and let's see what happens.

Don't tell me you prefer taking the video, then connecting with the cable to the PC or TV to view it.
Since smartphones have better processors, gpus and displays, I barely turn on the PC, while the TV is on just to play classical music to my pets :)
SMARTphones already started replacing our PCs. This is another great improvement that will soon be followed by all brands.

AimeDuSable, 16 Mar 2019absolutely wrong. human eye can easily see the difference between 1k and 4k on a mobile phone.... moreTotally Wrong. 4k is just a sales gimmick on a mobile phone. The human eye can't distinquich the difference on such a small screen. Totally impossible.
Google it and learn the truth. I don't have the time to educate you.
No other brand uses 4K as its useless on a small screen. Just a sales gimmick for Sony Fanboys to brag about.

Its just too ... morejust take a look at all OLED devices with about 550 pixels per inch on the market right now. You can easily spot pixels. And 4K resolution is offering more detail than 3K. The only reason 4K is not very popular on mobile devices as of right now is because it was impossible to make such screens or it is too expensive. Why do you think Apple sells their phones with low resolution? Because you cant see any difference? Really? No, because they want to sell cheap product.

Between 3k and 4k it starts getting difficult but you can still see without problems
well sh*t!... anybody remember how small xperia x10 mini from back then?
we really came a long way since that time my friend.

Thats why no other brand have used 4k screens, as its just a gimmick
Nobody is going to use the 4K resolution. I think it wil be set to QHD or maybe even FullHD+ as default. The 4K might go in when playing movies or something, i believe you can turn that off to.
The 4K screen thing is just for the show, its of no use, you wouldn't be able to see the difference. Try it with your current phone by lowering the resolution, see if you can notice any difference.
I am not interested in that 4K screen, its the 21:9 aspect ratio and design that makes me want this phone.
The only thins that bothers me is the release date, why announce a phone and then wait like 4 months to release it.
This phone could be 5G capable. It has and a big height (which makes it a bit uncomfortable), and from what I've noticed 5G phones tend to have increased heights than usual.

I could've used iPhone 7 which is even better in all aspects if you consider bezel. 1644 x 3840 just takes out the battery for no real difference.
Tong San Chong, 15 Mar 2019Japan oled is just a myth. Doesnt exist.I'm not entirely sure, JDI makes LCDs, while J-OLED makes OLEDs for monitors, TV's, medicine, auto, etc.
Do some research before..

Nikjosh, 15 Mar 20198 and 12GB RAM for $1000, thus make it needlessly expensive. 6GB RAM for $1000. Its a CHEAT.. You're glossing over the fact that the Xperia 1 has a a much higher resolution OLED than the rest of the competition. That component isn't cheap. So the price balances itself out. The price still isn't comfirmed yet, anyway.
