Don't tell me you prefer taking the video, then connecting with the cable to the PC or TV to view it.
Since smartphones have better processors, gpus and displays, I barely turn on the PC, while the TV is on just to play classical music to my pets :)
SMARTphones already started replacing our PCs. This is another great improvement that will soon be followed by all brands.

AimeDuSable, 16 Mar 2019absolutely wrong. human eye can easily see the difference between 1k and 4k on a mobile phone.... moreTotally Wrong. 4k is just a sales gimmick on a mobile phone. The human eye can't distinquich the difference on such a small screen. Totally impossible.
Google it and learn the truth. I don't have the time to educate you.
No other brand uses 4K as its useless on a small screen. Just a sales gimmick for Sony Fanboys to brag about.

Its just too ... morejust take a look at all OLED devices with about 550 pixels per inch on the market right now. You can easily spot pixels. And 4K resolution is offering more detail than 3K. The only reason 4K is not very popular on mobile devices as of right now is because it was impossible to make such screens or it is too expensive. Why do you think Apple sells their phones with low resolution? Because you cant see any difference? Really? No, because they want to sell cheap product.

we really came a long way since that time my friend.

Thats why no other brand have used 4k screens, as its just a gimmick
Nobody is going to use the 4K resolution. I think it wil be set to QHD or maybe even FullHD+ as default. The 4K might go in when playing movies or something, i believe you can turn that off to.
The 4K screen thing is just for the show, its of no use, you wouldn't be able to see the difference. Try it with your current phone by lowering the resolution, see if you can notice any difference.
I am not interested in that 4K screen, its the 21:9 aspect ratio and design that makes me want this phone.
The only thins that bothers me is the release date, why announce a phone and then wait like 4 months to release it.
This phone could be 5G capable. It has and a big height (which makes it a bit uncomfortable), and from what I've noticed 5G phones tend to have increased heights than usual.

I could've used iPhone 7 which is even better in all aspects if you consider bezel. 1644 x 3840 just takes out the battery for no real difference.

You're glossing over the fact that the Xperia 1 has a a much higher resolution OLED than the rest of the competition. That component isn't cheap. So the price balances itself out. The price still isn't comfirmed yet, anyway.

Those numbers are basically for bragging rights, and thus makes it needlessly expensive. Android doesn't even have the optimization to intelligently utilize and manage 12GB of memory. Heck, it has a difficult enough time just trying to manage tons of background apps running on phones with 8GB of memory. It'll force close some before it even approaches that limit due to other resource limitations. 6GB seems to be about the right amount that current versions of Android (and phone processing hardware) can properly use.
