If just a couple of days or such issue occured upon first time useage then looks like its a defective or improperly calibrated panel so have it replaced or refunded. Otherwise if it had been months or so, either mishandling of the phone like accidental drop, sat-on, water, etc. could have caused it aswell. Eitherway it still under warranty then send it to their accredited service center to have it fixed.
I have already installed a latest software update (for HK varient, 62.0.A.3.137) but distortion of dark colors in low brightness isn't fixed. Is this a hardware problem? My first oled phone was Lumia 930 (which was released in 2014) and I've been using many oled phones for years now, but I've never had this experience before. I watch youtube or netflix a lot at night, and it's so annoying. Should I get a service now? Will getting service help things get better? Is there anyone already got a service? Thanks in advance :-)

If you have same problem of mine, you can see the distortion of dark grey color in very low brightness, at a very dark room. Please refer to link below. As for example I have no issues with display at all, so I guess, that if phone with the latest firmware is still having display issues, then it's hardware and not software issue.

I loved this phone because of its many features: long-lasting battery, light weight, compact size, 5G network, 21:9 aspect ratio, great design, and so on. I won't complaint about its mono speaker, or absence of AOD/high refresh rate display, because they're Sony's mid-range phone and are not essential features. I'm okay about its chipset(SD 690) because I mainly use it for internet browsing. BUT, I'm very disappointed by its display quality, when it's in low brightness. It has black crush and green tint problem but was not fixed by software updates even though they promised to get the problem fixed by a software update. I'm so annoyed when I watch youtube at night. FIX IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, SONY!

I had mine since day 1 & no issues at all besides getting battery drains/warm when using 5G.
Dont blame Sony for your clumsiness by coming here & giving bad remarks.

The phone uses it to listen to the external environment (not including your voice), so that it can filter that out from the sounds it hears using the main microphone.
Reboot Your device in safe mode and test again. Also run diagnostic tests on Your device.
Bought the phone in january 2022. Already in the first weeks there were weird glitches when viewing photos in instagram or when watching youtube shorts. Lines across the image and weird twitching. Horrible white noise when watching a random youtube video. Also the wifi would not work after i was out of the house and using mobile data. After i come home the wifi wont switch on. The only solution was restarting the phone. The gallery and camera is also quite laggy. If you are fine with these problems then it is an ok phone.

Funnily enuf, I tried it on a screen reader on an OPPO phone I have (because it's a slow and unreliable reader) but it recognised that it was the same finger and wouldn't participate! ha ha.

However, the problem you mention is the same with me, and is really the only problem I have with the phone.
I found that a normal phone call works ok, as the top located microphone seems to change to a speaker and the bottom mounted speaker seems to change to a microphone. I tested this while on a call, and the other person confirmed that the sound at her end was greater when I talked into the bottom "speaker".
I then did the same test talking on Line - not the same, she said that talking directly into the microphone (at the top) was much louder, but when talking face to face on a video call, or directly into the bottom, the sound is very low.
This is very annoying - there seems to be no solution.
Question is - why is the microphone at the top? Seems totally illogical!
The screen still has tinting issues (green and red), black crush and generally sucks at lower brightness levels.

First of all, I h... moreWhen you watch the concert from YouTube please zoom to fill screen, you will definitely appreciate the cinematic concert experience. 21:9 ratio definitely better than 16:9 ratio when split screen for multitasking.
I have this phone. It's an ok unit, but my problem currently is that people I talk with either in a normal call or using an internet chat app - they complain of a lack of volume from my end. Anyone experience this? Thinking maybe it's the microphone placement - on the top edge.
Well, I finally decided to switch from old good X Compact to this (XQ-BT52). First of all, I had to disable only 7 apps compared with 20 in X Compact 🤯 Second, when I watch video on full screen, it has black bars from sides, so phone maybe could be shrunk by that significant space, because there is no much content with 21:9 ratio. Also, I will miss ability to listen radio 🙂 I do not film or take pictures much, so good camera is nice to have. First impression of this device is good, will see, how long it last 🙂
