Every company studies the market and makes its own decisions. Sony can add everything but the price will go up. Samsung S20 can have 4k but the price will go up. Chinese phones can be made with better materials but again the price will go up. Sony has probably decided on the price they estimate people will pay and added specifications acordingly. They have decided on these specifications and a maximum price of 1200€. That is that double GPS was ignored so that 5g modem could be incorporated perhaps

That's important for me. I live in high population city with a lot of concrete around me. Also when travelling is also better with dual one. Def there is difference wherever you use it.
Def thinking of p40pro+ or xpaeria 1 II, p40pro+ for shooting, or xperia for overall performer+ amazing design and amazing screen. Both better than p40pro+. Will be hard to choice.

Btw in all gps tests huawei are winners or top with Oneplus, which looks like have extra gps chip on their qualcomm devices or pay more to qualcomm so they add it.

S20 ultra has no dual gps, as a lot other very expensive phones. For God sake honor 30 pro+ has 98% of p40pro specs, costs 650eur, and has dual gps, most 5G bands, and so on. Phone World must seriously thing of Huawei more seriously

Not to mention the most important thing: it gets hot as hell when charged this way, even with the fan which is supposed to help. And we all know heat and battery don't go well together.

SLSAHXOHVOMVN, 16 Apr 2020Last year's OnePlus 7t used to reach 72% in 30min. Don't even bothering comparing it to Oppo ... moreI can assure you that the SONY battery will last longer than any other brand without any noticeable degrade in capacity over years of usage. That is a better deal for many who plan to use it over longer period of time. Trust me unlike other brands which fail after a certain period of time XPERIA devices are extremely long lasting.

Here is a link that will help everyone understand why fast charging isn't good for longevity.
https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/ultra_fast_chargers
Scroll down to
"Limitations to ultra-fast charging Li-ion"
There will be a graph that compares battery degradation to charging rates.

I support Sony's decision to limit battery charging to 1C to prolong battery longevity.

SLSAHXOHVOMVN, 16 Apr 2020Last year's OnePlus 7t used to reach 72% in 30min. Don't even bothering comparing it to Oppo ... moreI've mentioned before about charging rates before under the name BatteryRights.
If Sony takes 30min to charge to 50% then it is charging at 1C rate (1 times Capacity)
If a phone takes 15min to charge to 50% it charges at 2C. These batteries are most likely designed to discharge up to a 10C rate (no phone will discharge over 1C) so why would you think its good for the battery to charge at a very high rate. (its very bad for it in fact) In the RC forums, people have lipo that discharge up to 100C, but they avoid charging the batteries faster than 10% of discharge current.

Also I mentioned before (in an older post) that when the battery reaches a certain temperature (45C about 113F) the charging circuit reduces current. (after playing intense games) No phone will charge faster than 1C regardless of what they claim if the battery is hot.

Fast charge is like VTEC for Hondas (I don't drive a Honda, LOL). The engineers created an engine that can rev 1-2K higher than other brands. Yes, VTEC works and adds extra performance, but constantly being in high RPM isn't good for the engine. It generates alot of extra heat, engine wear increases, and the risk of damaging valves increase.
Same with batteries, heat accelerates the degradation of the battery. Unless you replace the phone or battery within 1-2 years, The battery capacitance will greatly decrease.

Fast charge is nice when you actually need it, but you should NEVER fast charge when you don't. The company doesn't care about the longevity of their products, They want you to buy a new one as soon as you get frustrated from something breaking.

Tann Hauser, 14 Apr 2020I am certain some Xperia parts are made in Sony factories in China, like batteries, etc. Just... moreAlmost 90% of electronic parts are manufactured in China. Most companies these days just take these parts produced in China & assemble the products in their home country.
Nothing special there, has been going on for more than a decade now.

Smithravi, 15 Apr 2020Sony says 50% in 30 minutes :)Last year's OnePlus 7t used to reach 72% in 30min.
Don't even bothering comparing it to Oppo which destroys it by getting you upto 92% in 30min and 50% in 12-13min.
Heck OnePlus has way faster wireless charging than Sony's wired charging.

I'm asking because I don't have any problems with the GPS system in the XPERIA 1. For me, at least where I live, its been flawless.

Is it because where you live, you prefer the better GPS system? (I looked it up on how it works, its definitely an upgrade)
