Anonymous, 21 Apr 2020This is why OnePlus 8 pro and Find X2 Pro have true 10 bit display while Sony has 8bit with CFR. Also on OP 8 Pro, It's not true 10bit display it's still 8+2 only supported on native QHD+, if you lower it to FHD+ it's just 8bit.

Means, you will see less pixalated Colours. 8bit to 10 bit includes yes high number of Colours (especially transit colours) but if you fail to produce in the Display, it is useless :). HDR, ppi, contrast, less Gamma values., everything contributes for good Display. Read my other comment to know what is important/required to be a very good Display and why Xperia is still no.1

Yet Sony Xperia 1 covers more Colours gamout than competitors including OP 8 pro. Xperia with creator mode (equiavalnt to triluminous in LCD) also covers BT2020 and the only mobile to cover it.
Xperias can do Image and Audio upscaling using Software or using Hardware. Xperia 1 also the only mobile with least Delta values (around 0.8) means more accurate Colours, less Gamma affect. Also the reason to have bit less brightness Overall compared to competitors.
Important for a good Display:
-High number of pxiels (4K is still great compared to QHD)
-High ppi
-HDR support
-10bit colours
-Good Software
-able to cover high number of Colour gamouts
I'm Pretty sure no opther mobile in the market reaches near to Xperia in Display. Only people who have never used Xperia call other Displays great.

Iris5 takes care of FRC for those panels for 10bit color depth reproduction.
Stuff that Sony did a year ago on 10bit Xperia1 panel with its X1 mobile.
Native 10 bit panels are extremely expensive and used only in professional grade monitors costing 2500 minimum.
It would be nice to see a professional comparisson of both Xperia 1 and for ex OP8 Pro tho.

In my region.... Samsung only offers Crapynos SoC so its a no brainer getting Sony Xperia Flagship phones with Qualcomm SoC instead!!!

Oh btw, today AccuBattery says my 3 yr old Xperias battery health is 91% (9% degradation) , SoT 6:55 min.
And I never even took care of 20-80 precaution charge rule, I usually go under 5% and charge to 100% overnight.
Thats freakin amazing for a 3 yr old battery.

5,5" 21:9 is reasonable for a compact with that aspect ratio.
Im buying Xperia 5 mk II once it gets out.
6" 21:9 device feels about the same as my 5" 16:9 device in the hand.
And the XZ2like Deep Green one would be my choice.

Snapdragon 865 has Qualcomm Spectra 480 Image Signal Processor
This is what allows S20 to do 960fps (865 variant) I don't know the ISP in the Exy variant

I need help deciding what color I want.
Black looks good, especially contrasting with the ZEISS T* in red. But black is a pretty common phone color.
Purple is a grey-ish lavender, Unlike Xperia 1 color that was like indigo purple.
White is probably the nicest, but its not available in the region I plan from buying (I import from UK to US).
What color do you like?

3) Higher R&D and lower sales than bigger brothers
4) cant put all high end stuff inside tiny body, nobody wants another X Compact.
I want a small phone like Ace, but not with internals of Xa series. Not cheaper construction like Z3c and XZ1c. That glass of Z3c does not look like glass, very different from Z3 panel.
I want a phone exactly a small version of 1 ii, but not at cost of cameras or any glass body.
I want a 5" 21:9 with 1080p , 3000mAh, gorilla 6 body, metal frame and same cam system of 1 ii.

Exyvia, 21 Apr 2020You do know Each pixel contains 3 sub pixels which are the 3 colours RGB.Oled for mobile has 50% green usually (rumors of 5 ii using 50% blue instead with same pixel density of 4K screen despite being 1080p).
And that count will pass 1 billion.

But Before any Phone ISP was capable of shooting 960fps
DRAM was necessary to buffer. Sony was the first for that.

iPhone isn't a bad phone. But I will never buy one.
Sony better make a compact, they know in the past that people like smaller phones.(Xperia 1 isn't too big tho, just long)
I don't game or watch movies on my phone anymore. So I might be better off with a compact.(with flagship processor ofc)
