Movies are cropped, there is no movie 4k... morebecause 4k and uhd are totally irrelevant to eachother simply.
long as there are 2160 vertical pixels regardless of width created it's UHD. but addressed in different ARs. like UHD 16:9 UHD 21:9 etc.
4k is a name uhd is a standard. too much waste of time for you ppl to understand leave in your caves i don't mind .

this phone is not UHD and falls under QHD standard like other phones call it 8k it won't change that standard.

Read the link man before arguing. 4K cinematic view on 21:9 is 3840pX1700p (curved) or 4096pX2160p. Also the 4K Resolution itself is defined in almost all cases as, it is the measure of Pixels in horizontal. So your Argument About 2160P is invalid. Also it is one of the types of 4K and not Standard 4K.
Also no one, literally no one is talking about 3440x1440 Quad HD Resolution which Samsung uses. It doesn't meet any of 4K Resolution of any type for any aspect ratio.

movies tvs monitors cameras all follow UHD standard and nothing else. how simple is this? call it 100000k it's not even UltraHD and doesn't bring full UHD experience simple as that.
even sony's 6000$ tv and 4000$ caemras don't have anything other than UHD (2160p) , 4k means nothing by its own , some call UHD as 4k as well but not all 4k are UHD
4k is a name UHD is a standard. this phone falls under quad HD standard. call it 9k won't matter.

Hope this phone will be a huge success for them. After XZ1 Sony gradually started losing ground in the mobile phone business, despite still having had a big market share in 2015. The S8/S9 design was just too strong and Chinese phones too cheap.
Got my Sony phone in 2006 maybe, hope they have comeback.

you can call this phone resolution 4k or anything it doesn't matter cause it's just a name nothing like a standard. but it's totally irrelevant to anything with UHD standard.
uhd 21:9 is 5160x2160p
and you don't understand that 21:9 is larger than 16:9 not smaller! mr. genius.
when you want to make ultrawide fhd qhd uhd displays you add pixels to width not just cut from height LOL. this is the standard and is present in all displays in the market you can buy. i don't mind what ppl hallucinate.

I dont know what 200buck... moreIt's not sd865, but they claim "hi res from built in chip" as well, like oppo a5, mi 9t. There's mi 9t pro also with sd855, add more price but still far lower than sony flagship.
And fyi, this is not my opinion about specs, i've tested it by myself, yeah it's not xperia 1 ii, but many sony phones, the last are xz2, xz1. Non of these have proper audio quality.
Even doesn't support 32bit/384khz audio output.
Can't compared to iphone, LG, and maybe huawei phones.
It's just redmi quality.
