AnonD-923639, 01 Apr 2020I just hope this improves. The xperia 1 wasnt that great for battery life and on big reason I ... moreYou shouldnt trust hands on reviews for any batterylife calculations.
Hands On is a first time power up preview, when any phone usualy does numerous app and software update tasks in background, and uses excessive maH per hour.
Real reliable batterylife can only be measured after first 3-4 charge cycles, once the whole software thing "settles in".
Also it certainly shouldnt be based on any prerelease software version.
Au japan measured Xperia 1 4g batterylife by their standardised test to be 85 hr, and Xperia 1 mk II 4g battery to be 105 hr, on 5g 100 hr, even on that prerelease software.
We dont know their exact testing parameters, but it gives us a vague clue of how much hr batterylife test should be by arenas testing parameters here, which were 6 hr lower than au ones for Xperia 1. Standby could indeed be lower, but 4g/5g talktime and browsing, and video time should accordingly be higher due to 4000 maH...
My approximation for arenas testing is 90-95 hr for 5g, and 95-100 hr for 4g. Buy hardly anyone will use 5g in due time, so keep in mind the 4g aproximation.
AlexP, 02 Apr 2020You should like the phone you want then worry about battery life. That's how I look at itHe has already told you that battery life is important to him. What you want in a phone is obviously different to him.
Jesus Chirst look at all these comments...
You can safely call a 2160p video (3840x2160) a "4K" video because that's "4K UHD". That term is used literally everywhere.
If that 2160p video is actually a 2.39:1 movie, it would be ~3840x1607 movie and two black bars on top and bottom. (Not 5163x2160 my friends, we're talking about black bars here) I guess that's a "4K" video too.
X1II has 3840x1644 resolution, if anyone watch this 2160p(4K UHD) video aka. ~3840x1607 movie on X1II, it will be a perfect fit, pixel to pixel, with little to none black bars. That's very "4K" to me.
I know you guys are just arguing about that "1" in aspect ratio should be 2160 or 1644.
To me, I just don't care. 3840 pixels wide(tall?) itself is breath-taking already.

Smithravi, 01 Apr 2020But remember you must sacrifice the 4K on X5 :)Worth it if I can leave a receptacle for 24 + hours while camping or on business. I (and many others) see battery life as an important part of a smartphone. Screen res is nothing to me if I can't turn it on after a few hours
AlexP, 01 Apr 2020Personally, I don't care about battery life on Xperia 1 II, because Sony cares:)Well people have different priorities, but a lot of people want their phone to run all day on a single charge.

AlexP, 01 Apr 2020Xperia 1 for 3330mah has a great enduranceI'm not saying they didn't optimize well for the battery size, but regardless, I would rather a score close to the x5 so I know my phone can last. A lot of reviewers talked about the sub par battery life of the x1 abd many reviewers were hoping to see a higher endurance score, but it doesn't look like we are getting that. 79 hr on GSMA is poor when compared to note 10+ or Iphone

That makes sense, but I was hoping they could optimize to be at least competitive with other companies reaching 90+ hours with the SD865. guess it was wishful thinking to see decent battery life scores with those specs. I might have to go for the x5 instead

The xperia 1 wasnt that great for battery life and on big reason I ... moreLess battery life even with 4000 mah could be due to power consumption by SD 865 and separate 5G module. Also Sony induced 90Hz equivalant on 4K HDR display. I highly doubt it will have any increased screen time than on Xperia 1. I think they realized this and that is why they have increased the capacity.
More brands copying the SDR to HDR conversion brought by XZ2.
Then haters say sony mobile has never done new stuff.

Yup, This is the most referenced internet article on the subject yes. Someone on wiki did their job quite thoroughly there, with a vast number of reference articles on this utterly confusing subject.
And it clearly states, as referenced:
"Some articles claim that the terms "2K" and "4K" were coined by DCI and refer exclusively to the 2K and 4K formats defined in the DCI standard.[8] However, usage of these terms in the cinema industry predates the publication of the DCI standard,[9][10][11][12] and they are generally understood as casual terms for any resolution approximately 2000 or 4000 pixels in width, rather than names for specific resolutions.[5](p2)[13](p109)"
so, "approximately 4000 pixels in width"
One defined 4k cinemascope definition by DCI is indeed
4096x1716 (CinemaScope crop), but its a Cinema standard.
If one logicaly follows suite, downgrading to Media UHD standard of 3840 width... it would equal to 3840 x some 1600 pixels
Furthermore, it states a 3840x1600 res as one of non defined 4K resolutions in use by media and tech worldwide...And Xperia has 3840x1644, even somewhat more than that.
So each to its own...
Us, the referenced media/tech world obviously, and Sony consider it 4K,
Let him consider it what he wants... his opinion is no refference point anyhow.

The xperia 1 wasnt that great for battery life and on big reason I have waited for this phone is the increased mah, hope it would push the endurance tp th 90-95 range. According to haters phone is not 4K, despite capacity to display play 4K on youtube.
I will demand Sony that I want to watch 4K on my 1080p xperia, since haters say 4K screen is not needed on the app.
How is it like to know your chinese phone has lower quality screen than galaxy A50?

ht... moreAfter read the Wiki information, I can say Samsung and LG are miss the chance, since they know adopt the 21:9 on monitor display why don't bring it on a mobile device? But the Samsung dare to bring out 20:9 or 22:9 ratio on mobile devices into market, why not 21:9 ratio? Because they keep the punchole/pill block on top of the screen, that's the reason.
Therefore the Xperia 21:9 on mobile devices is the first into the mobile market and it has much more practical in nowadays, such split screen and cinematic videography.
