They can't do that good with their own IMX ... moreDude, the original Xperia 1 has a short span of development compared to older Xperia and its heir family (e.g. Xperia XZ2 Premium, developed since iPhone 7 series announcement or XZ Premium developed since Z5 series), as the previous development as "XZ4" was canceled altogether during restructured on Sony management, which's late February to early March 2018, and they did it from zero for 1. So, in just a year, they really need to find a lot "substitutes" of components, especially camera sensor, and it would took more than year to developed another new sensor. So they head to Samsung to do it, as they have been doing exchanges since moons ago for UWA & telephoto, except for main camera, which's IMX445 (successor to infamous IMX400). Xperia 5 did felt the same, though much better, as 5 have already a based of 1 in much smaller footprint. In case of 1 II, it's different as they have much more development time than original 1. Sure, the main is the same as S20 (IMX555), but the Ultra-wide taken from Xperia 5's main sensor (IMX563), while telephoto are unsure for now...
Besides, you're acting like the post-processing from XZ3 to 1 was barely improvement, when it does, even if for you it's a baby-step.... Explain why this site says Xperia 1 low-light was nice?

They can't do that good with their own IMX sensor. They went with ISOCELL front facing camera and possibly ISOCELL ultrawide and telephoto sensor too.
The camera was the worst among all other thing in that phone. Even though Sony fans cheer for that.
I don't think Xperia 1 II will improve and beat other flagships dramatically in just 1 year.

Only BOE, LG or Samsung currently produce 4K Oled screens for mobile phones. Sonys current available flagship is using the Samsung made 4K OLed screen. So we are 100% sure that the Sony Xperia 1 II is not a Sony made screen and will be either BOE, LG or Samsung.

Ellis, 12 Mar 2020Is this the world's first smartphone with Bluetooth 5.1 ? Huawei was the first so far I remeber. Not that is matters at all, because BT 5.1 does not bring anyhting worthwhile.

Anyway, Sony's home territory Japan is Apple iPhone country. Sony and the other Android phone vendors fight over the remaining scraps of market share.

Sony is the brand and quality. Samsung is just good as any Chinese phones like OnePlus I have
So, I was opened for Samsung then OnePlus. They're good, I agree. Xperia 1 is my first Sony phone and I found out the quality of Japanese phone. I really want this Xperia 1 II. It's just beautiful and gorgeous

Since Sony stopped certifying their phones to work with t-mobile wi-fi calling in USA and I needed to upgrade my XZ1, I decided to stop my long-term affair with Sony and moved to iphone 11 pro. damn, what a difference. i wished i moved to ios much earlier.
