The current generation of flagship proccesors can't even record in 30fps, personally I find it useless. And also, I prefer the larger bezels over notch/punch hole, it gives you a full view experience.
Don't know what people are complaining about even though SONY got lot many things right.
4K 21:9 90Hz
Dedicated dual front facing true stereo speakers
What else do you want.
When discussing about camera specially the primary camera lot many people are misinformed or unknowingly taking it for the same setup as previous year's XPERIA 1 which it is not. All the sensors got a bit of rework and increase in size while maintaining same pixel count. Don't know why people are unable to understand one simple thing that
Larger sensor(size) + lower Pixel count will give superior image of lower resolution in comparison Smaller sensor(size) + greater Pixel count giving inferior image of greater resolution.
What good is a 8K image if it inferior in quality to superior 4K image. End of the day 98% of people are going to view it on 4K or even 1080p monitors.
Anonymous, 25 Feb 2020the name really sucks... 1 and 2 ?? nice confusion like always sony....Clearly, you didn't read the reveal article. It's named as Xperia 1 Mark 2. It's a nod to how Sony names their DSLRs and dedicated cameras.
Finally, another phone that meets my four requirements to be a good phone, a screen with no notches or holes, standard USB, headphone port, and micro sd slot. If it had wireless charging it would meet all of my bonus points, but I can do without that feature.
It looks more stunning if they trim down Both bezzel or make it bezzeless rather than ugly notch
The specs are quite good. I'm glad Sony returned the 3.5mm jack and increased the battery capacity. But it should have offered an under display fingerprint reader, smaller bezels and 8k video recording.
For that kind of money,I will move to Samsung even though being big fan of Sony. Samsung S20 ultra is the best smartphone at the moment.
Dodong Jill, 25 Feb 2020Next question will be the price in the Philippines? This will be a great cam because of Zeiss ... moremaybe 45k pesos or a little over 50k pesos... like xperia 1 when released... but that is gray market... if you bought xperia after xz1, perhaps you heard about hotgadgets or t&l at lazada... cheaper than samsung flagship official price... xperia is not for "ph market" because most buyers want "low price high spec"... never mind about the tech underneath...
Finally, decent phone for people with ocd, no notch, symmetrical front facing speakers, the only flaw is the placement of the cameras, but i can live with that. Most importantly, battery capacity is increased.
Will be getting this -or- Xperia PRO 5G. (depends on differences when released, NO REAL REVIEWS YET, damn coronavirus) but because of 5G, not using until in my region.
Also flagship sony phones last me 3+ years before components, mainly battery failure.
Everyone is using SONY camera. Same for LG screens.
Sony knows media-related electronics (best for sound, and picture. While still maintaining clean look) but has a popularity problem. Xperia NEEDS better marketing, and a USA wireless carrier. (people will be more welcoming if they can physically see/use devices) I'll pay full retail but most won't, if financing isn't available
Sony is the only manufacturer still making flagship compact phones (have Xperia XZ2 compact) (And will buy Xperia 5's replacement)
