Sado0og, 26 Feb 2020Everything is great about this phone.. Except the disappoint 8gb RAM8GB is dissapointing on 2020?
hmm, eye tracking, is that new feature for smartphone settup camera?
Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020I bet you'd accept even a 2000mah battery coupled with the 4k display and reply with the same ... moreIt's not all about the battery capacity and the resolution, it is also about the software optimization and screen diagonal. Sony is one of the best when it comes to optimization, and a 4000mah battery is perfect for a 6.5 inch display. The S20 Ultra needs a 5000mah because it has an enormous 6.9 inch display to power.
Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020I bet you'd accept even a 2000mah battery coupled with the 4k display and reply with the same ... moreit is also idiotic not to read the battery endurance here at gsmarena.com it is just a click here and there and you will find a "miracle" of how previous xperia has on par battery endurance with other phones with higher mAH... if you don't believe in optimization, go get the energizer bunny...
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2020Which competing 4k phone has larger battery?I bet you'd accept even a 2000mah battery coupled with the 4k display and reply with the same idiotic comment.
Everyone knows Xperia 1 with 4k screen had weaker battery performance coz of the smaller capacity. This is why they offered Xperia 5 with lower resolution screen.
Even with smaller battery, Xperia 5 outperformed Xperia 1.
So it's clear that to run 4k you have to bundle in a bigger battery for optimal battery life. 5000mAh would have been perfect.
Competitors like S20 ultra already giving 9hr screen on time with 5000mAh battery.
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2020If you want 8k recording, wait until next year. This year's phones can't do it at a good frame... moreHow about you go and check out that 8k footage.
It's brilliant.
There is no 60fps but 8k@24fps is pretty solid.
Real world performance doesn't lie.
Real gimmick is the software enabled 90hz mode on Sony.
I like the design so much , it is the best ( my openion ) but about other spec., in 2020 I think ,
Sony don't have a Marketing Research Department & Market Intelligence
they need a new department soon and urgent ,
Now this, this a solid phone. Unlike the terrible Xperia 10 II. There are still two major flaws though.
(1) 12 MP is becoming quite outdated. I get that megapixels aren't as important as image processing, however the 865 is a new SoC that's capable of even 8k footage. That's literally video at 33 MP. I'm sure the 12 MP sensors are a bottleneck here.
(2) WHY IS IT SO DANG EXPENSIVE!?!?!
I noticed the Xperia 1 II's 3x telephoto lens is 70mm while the P20 Pro's is 80mm. The Xperia is not up to par with the P20 Pro.
AnonD-874772, 25 Feb 2020The specs are quite good. I'm glad Sony returned the 3.5mm jack and increased the battery capa... moreIf you want 8k recording, wait until next year. This year's phones can't do it at a good framerate, so it's just a gimmick feature people would play with once or twice and never touch again. The fact is, 4k 60fps is better than 8k 24fps for all intents and purposes.

Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020Just look at the specs of the competition (S20 ultra & p40 pro)
It eats Sony's camera ali... moreNot necessarily, iPhones don't have super periscope zoom features yet they sell like hotcakes.
It's better business sense to cater to the majority of ordinary users, rather than push a niche feature that few care about.
By the way, I've played with a S20 Ultra in phone shops. 10x hybrid zoom seems okay, bigger zooms above that really degrades the photo quality. And 100x looks terrible. For most people, 2x/3x/5x optical zoom is more than enough.
The S20 Ultra is a (expensive) gimmick, I predict more people will buy the S20/S20+. And Samsung's midrange A-series Galaxy phones will still vastly outsell its S-series flagship Galaxy phones.
Anonymous, 25 Feb 2020That 4000mah battery is small for 4k display.
Also the screen doesn't have 90hz native refres... moreNative 90Hz would have drained the battery even more.
Anyway, let's wait for comprehensive battery life tests.
Samir, 25 Feb 2020Why no under display fingerprint?Sony doesn't want to pay patent fees.
I assume they removed the 960fps slowmo? I wished they did not, because if they are boasting its photo and video capabilities then the super slowmo should still be there.
