boez, 09 Aug 2020Well.. that must be a fake news.. In reality.. no one buys xperia anymore. It's a krap brand.U must go out more often from your basement.
Zac5teeve, 08 Aug 2020this phone is all that i want in a phone.
wireless charging, isometrical design, side finger... moreThis phone is nice, as it packs a lot of features. However, for stereo speakers, these are really disappointing. :( There are actually some mono-speakers that outperform it...
they really have to work on that. Still, of course, the balance is better than mono-speakers, but bad for stereo... side fingerprint is something I mostly see on mid-rangers. And, tbh, I don't know why! They are much better and comfortable than display fingerprint readers. Nice to see it added here. The design is interesting and sets itself apart from many new smartphones, however I'd like to avoid bezels.
The camera is nice. Not the best, like everyone claims, but it's good.
The resolution is weird tho... overall the display is decent (many people said it's bad, but it's definitely not). The biggest issues Sony phones still have are: Speakers (audio quality is good enough, but not the speakers), battery life, selfie cam (I personally don't mind, but many do) and the weird stock camera app.
Tann Hauser, 01 Aug 2020Its mostly "out of stock" or "new units incoming" everywhere I look.

wireless charging, isometrical design, side fingerprint reader, 2 zone picture button for focus and 2 good front speaker
*-* my next phone for sure
I had a Sony Xperia and the camera on that was great the only thing I do not like about this phone is it is too narrow but overall I bet the phone is great it would be cool if they made like a Sony Xperia mark 2 + or something just a little bit more width and bigger to it

Why do Sony phones always have such lousy haptics?
Smithravi, 31 Jul 2020Every one who reviewed it on youtube used it for talking videos, of course vibration will be d... moreI 100% agree. I didn't enjoy it as much in Xperia 1 because I didn't bother trying it. But now, with the dual front-facing speakers, I actually tried to like it and I can say it is an acquired taste. Quite simply, no phone speaker can produce the sub 100hz bass you can get out of an IEM or even out of a $20 average earbuds. But the vibration adds another dimension, almost complementing for the bass which no phone can physically produce. I don't how why my brain works but re-listening to tracks that I love, which is quite classical with sustained bass from cellos and double bass, instead of noticing and being upset that the bass wasn't there, my thirst for the bass was actually quenched to an extent for I can feel it at my hands. The feeling might be synonymous with becoming deaf all the sudden and, instead of accepting the truth that you just can't hear anything, your brain train to 'feel' the parts that you are missing.
Well, you have the market in Japan right now treating the phone as the first coming of iPhone (is flying off the shelf in japan because it is almost becoming a status symbol owning this...) and people here are now realizing what a gem this phone really is. So judging on how we treated sony for the past 6 years here there will be no mercy, marketing probably was enthusiastic but supply folks probably didn't expect to sell this well here and they have loyal customers they have to meet at home... You can go to AU Mobile (japan KDDI 5G provider) and see that the sony I mk2 is at the top for android phones...
pan, 03 Aug 2020for those who already have this on their hand, how is the "paint job" under the back... moreActually funny that you asked. The glass back is a huge fingerprint magnet and any imperfection you might get from the paint will be overshadowed by the fingerprints, from DAY ONE. The phone is also very slippery BUT the phone is well balanced, almost as if SONY intentionally balanced it: many times my grip was awkward and my natural reflexes, from owning the original Xperia 1, tried to kick in and stabilize but then I end up over stabilizing it and should've given it more faith with my grip(is super strange in a good way)! That being said, I am a Team phone case/screen protector guy so all the fingerprint issue/slippage went away. Wireless charging works fine with a case.
pan, 03 Aug 2020for those who already have this on their hand, how is the "paint job" under the back... moreNo problems whatsoever for me. I'm using black variant. But I saw few people who bought early purple devices had problems with peeling around corners. Few of them also replaced their devices and got a new one. I haven't seen any more complaints from them on reddit again.
for those who already have this on their hand, how is the "paint job" under the back glass? not that im worried per se, but the debris inside might cause other concerns...

Fearghast, 02 Aug 2020So Xperia Pro is just an external display and a modem ... that's actualy pretty sad for s... moreYes kind of. As they said, it is not aimed at general audience. It is a boon for all mirrorless/DSLR camera users and also cinematographers.
They can use it as small external 4K HDR 10 bit monitor using HDMI input. Since Xperia also supports true to life white balance settings (industry standards), those professionals can tune according to their likings on the spot.
They also said the design is made such a way that the mmwave works almost even in all directions unlike typical smartphone designs. That's also great thing.
These kind of minor details is what makes professionals so hooked up onto that. I already knew few people who are very much eagerly waiting for that.
For the first time a "PRO" (for professionals) is coming in smartphone industry.
