For me the selfie camera is good for video calls, with that huge sensor and wide angle camera on the back and eye tracking feature, physical shutter button... Why would i bother with the selfie, it is never going to be at least as good as the primary camera.

Like everytime I snap a photo, the GPS is hundereds of meters wrong ... never saw this issue on any phone I used before.
Not to mention there is a software bug, that resets "save location" to off state randomly.
People keep hating sony phones when in reality they are one of the best out there
the only drawbacks of this phone are the price and selfie camera....it`s the same as on the xperia 1, which was mediocre...at1200 euros... too much. 750 euros would be a fair price
Takoyaki, 12 Jul 2020This phone is overpriced and worse than the other flagships. So.. dont buy it.All phones are overpriced in 2020. So, every flagship is worse
Takoyaki, 12 Jul 2020This phone is overpriced and worse than the other flagships. So.. dont buy it.The phone has a purpose. To give you an all round experience especially in camera soo it may feel overpriced to you but not to people who know it's worth
AnonD-731363, 12 Jul 2020Man base OS maybe but if you want to run complex apps or games your optimization goes to hell ... moreWow so you will be using complex apps and games(seriously what is that). Because 99.99% people who purchase any kind of smartphone let it Apple or Android let it cost $150 or $1500 they will be using regular apps and games. So for 99.99% of the people phone being well optimized do matter to get best user experience out of the phone. That is the reason all the big brands spend huge amount of resources refining their OS as much as possible. Why do you think people like Apple iPhone performance over time even-though the hardware going in is not that great compared to Android counterparts because iOS is optimized to utilize and work consuming comparatively low resources and work smoothly over longer period of time.

This is the difference between $800 phone with 8GB memory and $1200 phone with 8GB memory. This shows how well SONY OS is optimized.
[deleted post]He doesn't know how well optimized device works and why SD Cards exist or were invented in the first place. If a person is capable of using up whole 256GB then there is nothing stopping him from using up 512GB. Eventually he will have to drop in Micro SD Card for storage.
[deleted post]Oh right for people like you who like over saturated unnatural looking screen would definitely hate spot-on most natural looking SONY screen. You may even say SAMSUNG has better picture quality over SONY in TVs.
1100 bucks for a low end flagship funny.
Other much cheaper flagships for half price have much more ram disk space better battery, battery life, charging capabilities and much powerfull camera.
Sony is really out of mind if they think this will sell.
Only japanese sheeps will buy this because in Japan there is almost no other brand to sell their much better devices such as Xiaomi, Realme or Nubia.

closest thing sony currently offer to what qualia experience was back in 2004. qualia was pretty cool, hope they'll release that kind of boutique high end again in the future
The comment section of Xperia 1 II has been a merry go round for infinite loops with fights and floods of debates that never end, from battery life, UFS gen. storage, cameras, 21:9 aspect ratio, 4K screen, High Refresh Rate, color reproduction, target markets, fast charging rate, naming scheme, design, and now audio... I am amused yet perplexed... What's next? Dynamic Vibration System? FM Radio? GPS? Sensors & Actuators? Android 11 update? My goodness...
Tann Hauser, 11 Jul 2020Thats quite a visible difference in quality. Xperias screen is just top of the crop there. ... moreYeah but to be honest XPERIA 1 II Display was in Vivid mode or in Cool mode. If set to Neutral it will become more crazy to compare the color accuracy and nothing beats SONY in that.

Btw, why is OP8 Pro screen worse in dynamic range at same brightness? I thought it was 10 bit too, like Xperia.
Whats with that?
Vineet Reddy, 11 Jul 2020For a decade or two SONY have been making only two kinds of headphones. The Monitors which are... moreno. for the last 4 decades, sony have been produced 3 kind of headphones. studio monitor, audiophile, and mainstream consumer. for years they studio monitors have been japan industry standard in recording along with elega headphones. in audiophile section they compete with stax which is industry standard for audiophile level headphone which is not very successful story for sony back then, compete with yamaha, fostex, stax and a bunch of japanese giants, and some european brands. again we're talking 1970-1990 here, back then people bought speakers so it's niche market in the first place. those two kind of headphones most of the times only available in japan, rarely sold in international market. they do sold some of the studio monitors for international market but they changed the name and alter the sound for international market, that's why there are always japan version and international version on most of the sony high performance headphones. the third one, the lowest of the lowest, mainstream consumer, that's the one they sold on international markets, that's why when you thinking of sony headphone. crap is always the first thought come in mind.
in 1990s they picked themselves up and focus on audiophile market. that's when they produced r10, problem is it's super expensive. that thing cost $4000 back in the 90s. they discounted that to $2000 to sell all of the r10 inventory, especially with asian financial crisis back in 1998, selling was super slow, it took them almost a decade to sell off all their inventory. and then in earlier 2000 they launched qualia, their boutique high-end brand, they released qualia 010 for headphone product, cost $2500 back in 2004. and same thing repeat, slow sell, they discontinued that qualia brand in 2006. that's when sony left the audiophile market. only focus on re-release some of their popular studio monitor and a bunch of their consumer market crap. until in 2016/2017 they decided to back to the audiophile market with the release of z1r
that's pretty much the history of sony headphones journey. so if you really want to look for decent headphones made by sony, look at their vintage studio monitors, if you really have money look for r10 and qualia. last time i check r10 cost like $8000 two years ago in secondhand market, qualia around $7000. good luck
