YogiBear83, 01 Jun 2020S20 sensor is 2 generation behind in terms of "noise" at high ISO, and 4 generation behind in ... moreWell how you come up with that? How much time is a generation? No being rude here but i don't see this camera perform bad. Bit better than other flagships (sorry motorola, I love you but your flagship is bad at pictures) . And is it generations like each flagship camera released by sony?
Finally a good phone. An actual good phone! They know their priorities: a very very good screen,in exchange for 90hz,which i wouldnt mind (kinda expensive to not have it, but it does so great at camera that i'm giving it a pass), fastesr chip,no need for those 16gb Ram, just 8, to not increase the price probably, excellent design and, probably the best camera on the market, software wise and photo quality. Great phone sony! Some photographers will buy it, other people i don't think so...

Anonymous, 31 May 2020So you didn't say that Sony's cameras are 2 generations behind? I did because they are. 60 exposure level adjustments per second and 20 fps burst shots aren't enough to change that. Can't shoot in 8K so that's a generation behind. And it has sensors that are only on par with ones from multiples generations ago. I'm talking 2018 here.
AlexP, 31 May 2020$350 cheaper and no security using web browser......oOoHhH nOoO. You don't have proper security when using the built it browser that nobody uses? HOW TERRIBLE!
Oh man, I just realized how good this phone must be for VR with that 4K display. Plus it's OLED this time, so it should handle VR wuite well. If only Google Daydream could come to Sony phones...
I don't know what I'm talking about. Sorry i had a severe lapse of judgment.
joe nodden, 31 May 2020No, that's your false point. I said word for word, "My point is".So you didn't say that Sony's cameras are 2 generations behind?

Personally I think the Sony manages noise a little better in darker areas, but still nowhere near DSLR quality (as would be expected) As for colour management you would have to be the one taking the photo to know which is the more realistic.
But again different days, different light, different angles. (The simple fact of having a white car in the picture as opposed to a dark one, changes a lot in that area) Compressed files. As long as the photos look good enough to you, that's all that matters. And they both will be fine most of the time

Oh you mean that Lew Unbox Therapy guy...
Yeah, well he is a hype YT machine, not much of a reviewer. But a little hype about a Sony phone for a change, doesnt hurt.
Juan and TK review discussions are great and down to the ground.
And Well yea, but its still overpriced. With that bundle not so exageratly much.
I guess Sony is going en route keeping the premium price, for brand recognition among other premium priced (its a consumer psychology thing), but realising its too much, bundels in the expensive headphones to ay least ease the customers mind.
Either way, after these couple early reviews Ive seen and read (not the lacking Arenas tho), I seriously consider to overpay for the overpiced. :D

Juan and Tarek oh i love these guys they have zero subjective opinions, Lewis in the other hand never cease to hype people.
I said it before and i will say it again, this phone expensive yes, overpriced certainly not, technically xperia 1 last year compared to mark 2 for the initial price is considerably overpriced.

Got quite hyped up watching J Bagnell and TK discussing all the good stuff about it on YT, just like UnboxTherapy did...
I myself am quite on the loop here, whether to wait for cheaper 5 mark II, or to just make a wallet leap and buy this with those expensive headphones bundle. Id sell those, so pricewise it would be reasonably "justifiable" to some degree.
Oh, the brainstorming in me. :))
The xperia 1 ll is in the top 10 by fans chart, however, i am not sure how accurate the daily hit chart is but this phone is number 5 so far despite the pandemic.
Anonymous, 30 May 2020What exactly are you comparing? Photos you have done yourself with your phone Vs the photos on... moreI have compared the photos made by gsmarena in the reviews. Exactly the same photo made with the two phones.
For example in zoom samples, the mi 9t with 2x has practically better resolution than the sony with 3x (see tiles in the clock building). In the wide photos I see similar light and color treatment (good both) but a little more resolution in the mi 9t. The ultrawide are also comparable.
In low light photo the sony wins.
The reason why we couldn't test the battery is clearly stated in the review. I'll paste it here since some of you may have missed it:
"Sadly, we were unable to test the Xperia 1 II's battery life at this point in time. Sony informed us that the currently available firmware isn't entirely final when it comes to battery management so the results we'd be getting wouldn't be indicative of the ones on the shipping product. Once the final firmware is made available in the coming days or weeks, battery life will be the first thing we test and we'll update this page accordingly."
joe nodden, 31 May 2020My point is calling it a calculation is no better than saying "Oh yeah it can do 60 things per... moreNo, the. Point is, you are unable or unwilling to see what is in front of you. This started because you said that the cameras are 2 generations behind. I said that it can take 20 images a second (fps confuses you) and make 60 calculations and adjustments during that second to have the 20 images proper in focus and exposed. You don't like to call it a calculation fine.
The whole point is it can do something that no other phone can do, even a lot of dedicated cameras can't do.
So how can it be 2 generations behind, if it is the first to offer such a feature?
You see, all of your comments are negative and don't face up to facts, and this is just another example of it. I don't care if you like the phone, and I enjoy a good debate and different points of view, and with most people on here I can understand the points they make.
But you, well to put it politely, are socially challenged.
