Android 11 is buggy on this phone.
Satellite navigation stops working on a random basis resulting in constant lock failures in Maps, the Recent Apps (multitasking) swipe fails randomly with the apps closing instead of displaying the picker, Bluetooth car integration breaks resulting in all calls in and out closing immediately, double notification icons on the AOD, occasional random app crashes, odd random battery drain that's not recorded in the battery history and camera focusing issues where it looks right in the preview but comes out blurry - particularly bad if you try to use an in-app picture taking option.
I'm restarting this phone more than I've had to on anything I've owned for years - very poor overall.
Rdmkr, 02 Mar 2021Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How d... moreIn comparison, the width of this phone is only 0.4mm smaller than the iPhone 12 and 0.1mm smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S21, so yeah, it really is not bad at all, do your research before posting a hate comment.
Rakaloah, 17 Mar 2021Fun fact: Xperia 1 II has basically the same screen width with Samsung Galaxy S21 (and iPhone ... moresuch "debate" has been around... but nitpickers cannot move on...
and if they are talking about aspect ratio, as if 21:9 is far stretched from 20:9, 20.5:9 19:9... though sony also tried 18:9, it is just "logical" they go for 21:9 as it is a content standard... some movies i have are on that ratio...
what should be appreciated by everyone is that we have choices...
Rdmkr, 02 Mar 2021Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How d... moreFun fact: Xperia 1 II has basically the same screen width with Samsung Galaxy S21 (and iPhone 12/Pro or all devices with a screen ~7cm wide).
That means for one specific YouTube video, or one specific on-screen keyboard, in Portrait mode, it has bascially the SAME SIZE on all these devices mentioned above.
Thus your last argument applies to all these devices. Last time I checked (using the phone finder on this website), there are 1119 phones within that 68mm~72mm width range.
You should talk with iPhone X/XS/11 Pro/12/12 Pro users, Samsung Galaxy S7/S8/S9/S10/S20/S21/Note 10 users and Huawei P20/P30/P40 users about how inconvenient their phones are.
Rdmkr, 02 Mar 2021Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How d... moreThe videos are still sharper than a wider phone in portrait vs portrait, due to this having more pixels. And why would we need to juggle we can split the screen in half due to how tall it is.
Rdmkr, 02 Mar 2021Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How d... morei have this... and it is somehow a sweet spot... it is a good sign that still, many people want an aspect ratio following content standard (i have collection of movies with that aspect ratio, used to play on z5 premium so i got black bars on that but not on 1ii), notchless, no punched holes, bezel is quite small for my handling since i use z5 premium... oh and a 3.5mm audio jack, yet an excellent software for wireless audio like the dsee... there are many things to love about this phone, i tell you... only bashers and "fanboys" of other brands hate it...
i understand is expensive,
but i am still love sony
postby:sony xperia 1 ii
Yo this thing is cost around $1200 in my country so i don't think it is a good value for money.
Best Smartphone ever...
Of course expensive but way better than shamesong, pineapple and chinese aftermarket phones. (Xiaomi, oppo, realme, zte etc)
Rdmkr, 02 Mar 2021Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How d... moreIt's fine if you lack the mental capacity to understand the aspect ratio of the phone. It helps with one-handed usage and is comfortable to hold unlike most phones nowadays. Who cares how videos look in portrait mode when most of the time you watch in landscape.
Taller than the galaxy note 10 plus, what a disgrace. And the screen area is still tiny. How did this junk device get so many favorites. I bet those of you who own this never compared how small youtube videos and your keyboard looks in portrait mode, or keep juggling between portrait and landscape like it's a normal inconvenience of smartphone usage (it's not for the rest of us).
Yazdanpanah20, 28 Feb 2021the stylus is not all I want, but Samsung doesn't have a Camera?! ;)or, you may buy a stylus to work on it...
z ultra is clever that a pencil or magnet can be used...
sony might have a problem with it since it did not pushed through (like the floating touch of xperia sola and white magic technology for xperia p, they only have a generation)
anyway, samsung has decent camera, better output lately as they toned down saturation...
but overall, i still prefer xperia 1ii... this phone is the "top fan" phone released for about a year here in gsmarena... and i have not clicked "be a fan" yet...
i seldom use a "cheap" stylus on it... yo know, that comes with a pen on the other end given by my company...
Anonymous, 27 Feb 2021why? samsung already have it, so why? just get a samsung if that stylus is all you want...the stylus is not all I want, but Samsung doesn't have a Camera?! ;)

RishiGuru, 18 Dec 2020It is imperative that we stop this comparison between car and smartphones immediately. All... moreit still kinda pisses me off that Ken Miles was "stolen" the victory of Le Mans, he would have been the first driver in history to have won the triple crown
Hello, does it shoot 120 fps or 60 fps with TELEPHOTO module?
Anonymous, 20 Feb 2021woefully overpriced imo I phone's are ripoff.
