xperia 5 III announced : https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/smartphones/xperia-5m3/specifications
(available in "early summer")
After using this 5ii for 100days by now, I can conclude that am making a right choice and decision getting it!
I have the P30 Pro for nearly 2yrs which have a higher rating in DXO mark than Xperia 1 ii. No review for 5ii in DXO but am judging it shld be the same or not far away with Xperia 1 ii. Do not be deceived by the high rating/points by DXO. Xperia 5ii takes better photos with right dynamic range and natural colors in most situations. The digital noise is less noticeable or more natural in comparison.
Thanks #Sony for bringing your Alpha tech and Zeiss on this spectacular smartphone.
Awaiting your soon to be announced #Xperia 1iii on 14/4 with improve battery capacity!
No ANT+ sensor on Xperia 5 II??? does anyone try to install ant+ app... sometimes it is only omitted in techincal specs..

Just go to settings, then fingerprints and tap your finger on the sensor, if you see your fingerprint highlighted it means it's getting updated.
I'm using this phone since early February and the worst issue with it – the fingerprint scanner. I register my thumb and its works just fine for a week or so. Then scan quality begins worsening gradually. And after two or three weeks after the registration I almost never can unlock my phone with the scanner. I have to re-register my thumb once again. And after that the scanner works fine again for a couple of weeks. And I have to repeat the registration again and again. It is unacceptable. It would be a great phone if it didn't have such an annoying issue.

As for the charging times it is fast enough up to 80 or 90%, but what's more important if the battery care options to prolong the lifetime of the battery. I appreciate those features a lot more than fast or wireless charging

If you are living in the US then you should be wary if it will work because they have their own cell tower frequencies.

Sony fan, 31 Mar 2021Fingerprint scanner does not always work, mostly it says "Tried too many times", the... moreI think you need to lower your expectations. While the Xperia 5 II charges at a slightly faster 21W than the Pixel 3's 18W, do remember it has about 33% more battery than the Pixel, so it'll take that much longer to top up. And if you're not using a gallium nitride (GaN) charger to optimize charging times, that may be part of why it takes a while to charge.
I can't say anything about the fingerprint sensor quality since I don't own an Xperia 5 II, but as a Pixel 3 owner I'd certainly prefer a side mounted sensor for convenience. And sure, Google wins in software processing and Night Sight, but Sony has a 3x tele and ultrawide, which is certainly more versatile.
Fingerprint scanner does not always work, mostly it says "Tried too many times", the charging time is way longer than "fast charge", and the camera is not better than Pixel 3 . Disappointed a bit :(

But nowadays numbers are the one that sell smartphones and other similar devices. People want all the highest possible, despite they might not need it objectively speaking, or they might not be using certain feature at all. We can agree this is a great device, but someone can say but there's wireless charging missing. I had it on my previous phone and I didn't use it. Simply I don't find it a deal breaker comparing to other, more important features.

Surprisingly I can se a difference between 60 and 90, but not a difference between 90 and 120Hz. Maybe I'm in minority but I get your point. If Sony wants to be compared with the best out there, then they need to have it all. And 120Hz is I guess a must have for flagships these days.
black, 27 Mar 2021is this phone available on the philippines? does it work there? or no?I'm not entirely sure, I'd check your nation-wide mobile networks and see if this phone crops up anywhere or check any nation-wide electronics retailers (that sell smartphones) and see if this shows up anywhere too!
I have one issue with Viber - when I want to listen to audio message over the ear speaker, I raise the phone next to my ear and normally the sound is transferred to upper speaker and the screen should turn off during that time. But in my case only sound is transferred to the upper speaker, while screen is still on - I think it's some Viber bug, because on Telegram the sound is transferred and the screen is off when proximity sensor detects (everything works as it should in this case).
Does someone has the same issue with Viber and audio messages, and what is the solution?
