Been using this phone for about a year.
-Nice and smooth UI
-Good for casual/average user
-Overheat if gaming/intense stuff
-Camera shutter lag
(need to wait for a few seconds before taking the next photo)
-8gb storage not enough
(biggest problem for me)
-Not a bad phone if you just need to get things done but can't really expect much from a mid-range phone
-So, my next phone might be iPhone SE since it is quite affordable with contract
-But, Android is still awesome
Can we use Jio Sim on this phone in both the slots? or do we need to use in the Sim 1 slot. And if yes how will we be able to activate the sim on this phone. facing issues need some technical guidance please help. Thanks in advance.
*BEFORE READING YOU HAVE TO KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT ME:*
1. I can't speak English as good as I wish, so my text is going to be hard to understand.
2. I'm poor so i had to buy this phone :v
The worst phone i ever had:
The only thing I loved was the IP68 certification and the 2GB of RAM enough to avoid force closing apps, but talking generally... Let's start: CPU overheats like hell, it only can run lightweight games without lag or overheating. I had to root the phone to play heavy games but it still got laggy and the CPU raised to 80°C. Camera have problems to quick launch and when taking a picture i have to wait around 3 secs to can take another one.
System UI isn't smooth.
2400 MAh battery is not enough to keep the phone alive during all the day and when using it playing games or even only with the screen on running an app, its necessary to charge it one or twice to end the day with
Poor camera quality.. 8mp camera from samsung and 5mp camera from iphone is much better than the 13mp camera of m4 aqua.
Good phone for gaming except that you can't install games to the external sd card.
Official Unlock code for the bootloader is now available in Sony website.
normally 4n condition is good but water proof is working only first month only .
macro focus is not working very difficult to focus near by objects
Hi, I just wonder how to transfer an application from phone memory to SDcard?
H had this problem, and it's fixed with the software update Marshmallow
um using this phone since 1 year...i havnt any prblems yet..exellent phone..gud features.exellent display with great viewing angles..i dnt know y people r hating this phone..great phone sony for the price range.
Phone body structure is fine but others service is not good. specialy camera problem. only after 1 year my phone has dead
Awesome phone! I have no idea why the hate foe this phone??? After marshmallow update, this phone is mega, for the money ;-) camera is great, when hdr is turned on its amazing quality. Even at night, its flash is enough for nice night portrait or landscape...Do not do gaming, and when surfing the phone is cool and no where near to say its hot on the behind.
Camcorder is 1080p, 30fps, just awesome, and I can stream it directly to my smart tv!
This is my second sony phone, next one will be sony for sure...maybe z compact series ;-) I assure everyone to buy this phone and update it to marshmallow. Only downside of this model is the 8 gb storage, so grab a 16 gb if you need it ;-) Cheers
Anonymous, 20 Oct 2016Possibly it is because you are used to using a flagship phone that when new was twice the pric... moreIt's fair, M4 Aqua even has to be better because it's more expensive. Nobody cares about flagship or not, it's about price and 4s is cheaper and in some areas (camera, build quality, software updates) better.
just sayin, 20 Oct 2016Camera: 13MP rear
At first I thought the camera is bad. I changed that opinion when I checked... moreYou talk shit. Camera is just bad because of artifacts, autofocus not present, noise, not much light captured and all these typical sony camera problems. Watch the newest camera comparison of GSMArena. Best part about Xperia XZ camera is that it's front camera is good. Build quality is far from excellent. Here some problems:
- plastic frame and back
- wiggling volume bar and camera button
- back gets messed up even when using case, on mine something happened I would call discoloration. I also used it once without case. Result: something like hairline crack above camera, just not as bad because it's plastic
- back sticking out at the frame with sharp edge
- back can be pressed in, you can even feel the components
- dust gets easily between screen and frame
- earpiece and mic speaker (which imitate the Z3 stereo speakers, but actually aren't) also get dust in them but you never get it out
But the battery is the only thing I can't complain about. Speed is also bad for the € 279 I paid for it. And of course these faaaaat bezels make this phone as big as some 5.5 inch phones. It's maybe pretty to look at first glance because it has design similar to Z3, but quality wise this has nothing to do with Z3. I'm happy when I'll be able to switch back to iPhone.
Phone performance is good, good battery last for about 20 hrs using data and wifi.
problems: getting sooooo hot very quickly just using a game or internet terrible hot, when screen broken the touch also is damaged because its built in and is so expensive to replace it and lost the option of water resistant.
AnonD-599829, 19 Oct 2016Worst phone ever had. From iphone 4s i went to this. I thought it gonna be better cuz my iphon... morePossibly it is because you are used to using a flagship phone that when new was twice the price and Apple pours more money into making everything run faster and smoother on lower hardware than the next three major manufacturers pay put together.
This isn't a flagship phone and to compare it to one, even an older one, for quality of components, isn't really fair.
Camera: 13MP rear
At first I thought the camera is bad. I changed that opinion when I checked samples in my PC. Very good details in outdoor conditions and average in indoor condition. The con is that the auto focus is bit slow. Also the image processing is slow. The screen is not bright enough so we will think the taken picture is bad. Actually the camera can take very good pictures.
I have a Samsung galaxy j5 compared to it Sony takes very good pics.
Headphone output: Very Good
Build Quality: Excellent
.Heating was an issue before update but have improvement after it but not quite well. It still heats after gaming and video recording.
.Battery backup is only average
Worst phone ever had. From iphone 4s i went to this. I thought it gonna be better cuz my iphone was really old and laggy. But this one is real shit... Laggy, slow, shitty camera, takes a while when captures a photo. Really bad quality photos. After buying this phone i understood that never go for a budget phone... Better save some more money and buy something good..
Received update with build number 3.A.1.33 today. Juli security patch is here, but no other noticeable differences until now.
blue.ice, 12 Oct 2016I want to know is sony xperia m4 good or bad which better the camira of blackberry z10 or the ... morem4 aqua camera is good only in low light condition it burst the color if have light on it not like my xperia x nice camera. m4 aqua is waterproof, octa core, beter to buy 16 gig internal memory the marshmallow software consume 7 gigabite of memory. I tested xperia m5 but not aqua nice camera. M4 aqua is affordable than m5.
I received mine in August. It's pretty good for its price (got mine for around $72 because of my subscription to my provider). At the end of August, I got the Marshmallow update on it as well.
The phone was pretty fast at first and it didn't get any slower since.
However it has 3 major problems. I will address them now and provide a few pointers to help you resolve them.
1: It gets hot if the CPU usage remains high for about 30-90 mins depending on the load from apps. Getting a good cleaner app to shut down unnecessary processes help, but still it's pretty bad if you want to play on your phone (I usually don't play on it, but you may damage your phone if you play more than an hour so make sure you play about 30-60 mins max then let it cool). At least it doesn't catch fire.
2: The hardware is pretty good, but the battery isn't really suited for this kind of load. You can't really solve this issue. I usually copy stuff on mine every day so it's charged from my PC on a daily basis. If I don't do it, battery lasts for 2 days max under my normal daily use (about 1 hour use of music player, all-day sync with WiFi and BlueTooth SmartWatch). Constantly using Stamina Mode makes it 3-4 days for me, but it disables background sync which kind of annoying at work.
3: The storage. 8GB internal storage from which 7GB is taken by the OS (6.0.1) and apps you can't delete. Even if you get an SD card, it won't let you install everything on it and Sony disabled the SD Adopt feature from Marshmallow. How to solve it? Get a fast SD card (I got a SanDisk Extreme UHS-I U3 32GB). You can find how to force adopt feature on your phone here (http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/146513/unable-to-adopt-sd-card-as-internal-storage-using-marshmallow). Do note however, that M4 Aqua can NOT adopt larger SD than 8GB (the commands will fail). So if you have a larger one, use mixed for partitioning (I use mine with "mixed 90"). You won't use more than 8GB for internal app storage anyways... Also note that the storage interface will be a bit bugged and I recommend doing a factory reset, installing your must-have apps to internal and then doing the SD adopt to avoid phone slowdown. After it's done you can transfer your apps to external if you get nagged constantly for low storage (because of the bug). Just make sure you don't remove your SD.
