I purchased one from Cell C, two weeks of regular usage later, the phone is com... moretook out contract at cell c on 01 december 2015 ;9 days and phone was just dead..21 days later got refurbished one ;3 days in and auto shutdown issue only comes on with charger..still waiting for 3rd one......phoned sony repair centre in jhb today apparently the issues are with the battery on all m5 devices ..they waiting for stock on friday...

I brought m5 last week and the function is prefect but now I'm having problem with the camera..it says (Error camera is not available)..what should I do?any solution for this?

is there any possibility to change the unit? i am using xperia m5 and i am now having auto shut down when i am receiving calls. it's really annoying!!! the phone will open once you plug in. what if i don't have my charger/outlet on my side?

Got 3... moreTry getting 3g-4g settings from your operator (t-mobile, vodafone etc.) because there are some bugs in the phone's internet settings. I did it and got rid of shut down problem.

I bought mine almost a month ago, and went to the service center thrice for replacement. Got 3 replacements all in all. First one is an obvious refurbished because it got monopod marks and dents everywhere but sony wont admit it, they replaced it but it also has a screen static issue, the one im using right now has autoshutdown issues, tried to phone the service centre but no answer. Maybe ill just wait it out until they release the marshmallow update. But one thing i noticed is the autoshutdown has to do with the Signal strength.the moment i lost my signal or my signal drops the phone shuts itself and wont turn on unless plugged into a charger. But when im out and my signal is strong, i don't face any problem at all. I hope sony gets this sorted. It sucks that this phone is only good on papers and ads. I wont recommend it for those planning to get one. Try the Z serieds ofciurse that will cost you more but it will be worth it.

Its truth, shuts down everyday, sometime 5x a day, switch on is possible only from charger. I do not advice this phone!!!

I downloaded 3G/4G network settings to my M5 and the shut down problem finished. The device's initial 3G/4G settings have some bugs and make the device restart.

OK, got the M5 for 3 days, already noticing the following bugs:
- Shutdown problem - phone shuts down, and cannot be turned back on unless plugged to charger. Have had this twice, both times when watching video (on youtube and instagram).
- Cannot access battery usage in settings, shows "Settings has stopped"
- When phone starts up, if time set to "automatic from network", it takes a minute for time to show correctly, because of which whatsapp and other apps can show errors.
I really don't understand how a company like SONY can release a product this buggy, and not care when thousands of users experience the same issue.

Please Don't Buy this phone, as this model has several technical problem and software is not working properly.
I suggest,It is a waste of money to purchase this phone.

I purchased one from Cell C, two weeks of regular usage later, the phone is completely dead and won't turn on. I have tried every possible trick to turn it on to no avail. Camera not up to par either and the battery life is nothing to shout about either. All in all a general waste of money.
