Hi. I have had 2 previous Sony Xperia phones with no problems.. I've just updated to the M5. Expecting to use the phone with the same confidence as previously. I was quite surprised to find my phone just shuts down without warning and have to use the recharge plug to restart. Even when I have enough charge left. Today I took my phone back and was advised to set my phone back to the factory settings. Wow I really don't want to go through this whole process of setting up, it's very time consuming. Has anyone else tried to reset with a successful outcome?? I feel this shouldn't be happening in the first place..
i have many problems with this phone like battery is draining and back camera very bad and the main problem that the mobile switched off when i put it in my pocket and dont open again untill i connect the charger please anyone have a solution for this problem ?
Brand new phone and it auto shuts down. cannot switch back on. Keeps freezing and the screen is unresponsive.

Hi friends i bought sony m5 it is a awesome phone for first two weeks then it is not working.
App start crash then some app stopped working then camera not working then erase external sd
Has Sony done any action with the issue? I really want this phone but was disappointed with the reviews. It seems that the majority who's using this encountered problems. Can somebody recommend a phone that is in the same league with M5? I dont wanna waste money with that kind of performance. Thanks.
if your Sony Xperia m5 is auto shut off and cannot turn back. You should press Power and Camera buttons at the same time then it will turn on back!
Love my phone and had it for about 2 weeks but now I am experiencing the shut down issue and the microphone won't work after sending a voice not in WhatsApp until the phone is restarted. I'm very scared because yes an update will help but by the time the 6.0 update is made for the m5 and I live in South Africa so it could take extremely long. I'm planning to phone Sony somehow and fund out why it does this and request a replacement because I cannot carry around a power bank or charger everywhere I go! Amazing phone but unacceptable

Anonymous, 11 Dec 2015reason?I experience same issue as everyone. Mainly shutdown and camera app not functioning.first repair was done one month after getting the phone. Second time I send back for repair is 3 days after receiving it back. For second repair I got a replacement phone which show the same shutdown and camera issue after a week.
Meanwhile my bro who gotta Samsung a8 same date as I get my m5 have no issue
Now I am happy with my z5 premium, no issue

My M5 phone having a auto-power shut down and over heating problem,send to Sony service centre for repaired but the problem still come back, very frustrated
I'm having the shutdown problem and I'm reading the posts and says that the problem is solve in the third batch.
Is that true? How do I know the batch in my m5? When will be the android marshmallow?

If you have the money than I might consider getting z5. I manage to get a refund for my m5 to buy a z5.
Even my M5 is having the same problem , it is not connected to either 4G or 3G. Works on 2G that too very less time & the network goes off, pls suggest the setting option of 4G.

Bad phone! My bf's bought one and after 9 days it kept shutting down, he had to connect it to a charger to turn on again, took him a lot of trouble to get a replacement, but the replacement is worse, in just 5 days the same thing happened. The sony outlet manager said his first phone was from the second batch, the replacement from the third and admitted that the phone is defective,but now he isn't anwering his calls nor replies to his texts... I don't know which is worse, the phone or th manager. Both of them malfunctioning. Lol! It is in the contract though that units will be replaced only with the same model, then it means that even if it is replaced again he will be experiencing the same inconvenience over and over. Why don't they just recall that model?
