I'll test this for a 2-3 days and see if i... moreThis phone [M5] has good specs for its price, but it's useless as it keeps shutting down the first few weeks I've had it and now it won't turn on anymore. Not reliable at all for a phone. Heading to Sony Philippines soon for this issue. And also, this keeps on overheating, auto focus won't focus on the "touched" area often even on manual settings, and battery doesn't even last a day as put in the specs. Bummer.
just bought sony m5 dual about a month..Screen freezing with tiny lines and turned off. Then keep restarting and temperature of phone increase. Same things happened and repeated. Will go to sony service centre soon. Really regret buying sony and never ever buy this brand again. So regret. For the first time in my life feeling this bad after bought a handphone. Please buy another brand my friends.

I wish they had a money back guarantee even for just a week. Maybe I will just have wait for mate 8 or just consider LG G4 instead?

I'd pay for a trouble-free phone any day. You cannot imagine the trouble you need to live with the M5. On some days it's almost as good as brick.
Guys need your opinions about this one. I went to the store in manila. The guys there said they are already selling the second batch or M5s and so far theye are not getting any more complains about the camera, shutdown and heating issues. Thet said that the first batch were the problematic ones. What do you think guys?
this is definitely at bad choice. phone screen are fragile and charging port are broken.
Just wait for the next update. They will certainly fix any problem.

My phone keeps having problem with the screen. Sometimes the screen will go crazy like i was using twitter and suddenly it open the notification bar and everything. Is this a software problem or what? will the problem be solved with a new update?
Bought it yesterday and now have a lot of problems such as sudden shutdowns, overheating and lagginess. The phone couldnt even function properly when multitasking. Is 3GB ram not enough?

Please Guys keep us up-to-date regarding the GSM settings, if its the best solution so far. Currently afraid to get one due to the sudden shutdown.
Following my post yesterday, the phone still black out/ shut down by itself even after reinstall New software.
I save up almost a year and paid myr1699.00 for the phone! Sony, what are you going to do about it? I want My money back!
zlowryder, 24 Nov 2015Sony should recall the M5 and at least give us an opportunity to upgrade to a new model. Shame... moreI agree, sounds like everyone is having problems with over heating and it crashing.
I had a Sony U with same problems - had it in to Sony Service agent 3 times and in end they only replace processor instead of give replacement phone and only lasted 5 more months till same problems arose again. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SONY PHONES TO ANY ONE - they are crap. I have a Samsung S5 now - awesome phone.

I have had 3 Sony Xperia and my latest a M5..WELL I AM VERY HAPPY AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. So Thankyou Sony for a fabulous phone which is great to navigate etc..
I suggest to those who already have this phone and also have the m5 replacement but kept on encountering the problem it can ba solved temporarily simply just go to settings> more> moblie networks> and choose GSM ONLY. After that i didnt experience any shutdown for 3 days straight. because we experience the automatic shut down when SONYm5 doesnt have enough signal. And also for the camera problem just simply go to settings> app> camera> cleae cache. Just in case when you cannot open camera by "error"
zlowryder, 22 Nov 2015my phone is still shutting down unexpectedly.Mysony m5 also have problem on randomly shutting down. And camera error that wont open. But when i fixed the mobile network i didnt experienced any shutdowns any more.justo go to: settings> more> mobile networks> preffered networktype> and choose GSM only. And will not shutdown anymore just like mine. And for the camera problem: settings> apps> all> camera> clear cache. And it will fix the camera issue. I think will just have to wait foe the bext update

NewSh, 23 Nov 2015Z5 is more expensive than M5; so it's hard to get Z5 at the price of M5.Sure. Z5 is expensive. But you'll have a working phone. In the end, it's up to you to decide if it's important to have a working phone. For me, in hindsight I would have paid for one that's worry free
