I have had 3 Sony Xperia and my latest a M5..WELL I AM VERY HAPPY AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS. So Thankyou Sony for a fabulous phone which is great to navigate etc..
I suggest to those who already have this phone and also have the m5 replacement but kept on encountering the problem it can ba solved temporarily simply just go to settings> more> moblie networks> and choose GSM ONLY. After that i didnt experience any shutdown for 3 days straight. because we experience the automatic shut down when SONYm5 doesnt have enough signal. And also for the camera problem just simply go to settings> app> camera> cleae cache. Just in case when you cannot open camera by "error"
AnonD-462011, 22 Nov 2015my phone is still shutting down unexpectedly.Mysony m5 also have problem on randomly shutting down. And camera error that wont open. But when i fixed the mobile network i didnt experienced any shutdowns any more.justo go to: settings> more> mobile networks> preffered networktype> and choose GSM only. And will not shutdown anymore just like mine. And for the camera problem: settings> apps> all> camera> clear cache. And it will fix the camera issue. I think will just have to wait foe the bext update

I bought xperia m5 and it is very problematic. Brought it to Sony service center and they offered 3 weeks repair instead of a replacement. 3 weeks now and no update from Sony. Do not buy Sony phones. They sell defective brand new units. Arrrggghhh...
I bought this phone 2 weeks ago and experience 3 times shut down. Bring back to sony store and they Told me need to re-install a new software. I asked for new unit replacement but they refused. Very disappointed...hope the new software can solve the problem. Sony team, where is the quality you used to deliver???
I got my M5 a couple of days a go and the screen has been funky from the very first day. It just goes crazy sometimes. I might watch a youtube video and the phone is lying on the table. And suddenly the phone clicks "pause" by itself or maybe another video or an add on the web page. Writing gets really difficoult when the phone picks up "a touch" on the other side of the screen and my fingers arent even near the spot. Then it might open google and go all wild and clicking everything and end up to some web page i have visited the day before.. Anyone else have this problem or did i just get a bad piece? Anyway im going to return it cause this has serious fault in it.
What a shamefull phone! I got one to replace my good old Nexus 5, attracted by the alleged good camera, the better battery life, it's resistance to water and its SD card support.
And a month later, i've already bought another phone. From another brand. This one was my first and last Sony device. Playstore regularly crash. So does the Navigator, which I use MUCH more ofter than the playstore. It lags regularly, mixes my text messages between contacts, sometimes freeze and refuse to unlock, or restart, until plugged to it's charger (yes, even with a full battery).
It does have a rather good camera, the camera switch on the side is very convenient, the battery life is good (but as I compare to a Nexus...) and there are a couple of other good stuff.
But so many lags, crashs, failures? It's a mid-spec phone from 2015! This is a shame!
Mine will end-up on EBay now, and good luck to whoever will buy it.

I have been using the fone for 5days now,the temp is warm most off the time,camera hanged once,led turned on by itself,but restart the fone fixed the problem,never had shutdown,cannot surf google play for long time,it'll close by itself,any suggestion from fellow users...anyway i think the specs on this fone are satisfying with the pricetag...overall i think its a good fone..btw i'm from Malaysia.

As for the unexpected shutdown problems, it may exist with the new unit as well. Unless, you can convince them to let you get a new phone. I'd buy another model altogether.
