I got my M5 a couple of days a go and the screen has been funky from the very first day. It just goes crazy sometimes. I might watch a youtube video and the phone is lying on the table. And suddenly the phone clicks "pause" by itself or maybe another video or an add on the web page. Writing gets really difficoult when the phone picks up "a touch" on the other side of the screen and my fingers arent even near the spot. Then it might open google and go all wild and clicking everything and end up to some web page i have visited the day before.. Anyone else have this problem or did i just get a bad piece? Anyway im going to return it cause this has serious fault in it.
What a shamefull phone! I got one to replace my good old Nexus 5, attracted by the alleged good camera, the better battery life, it's resistance to water and its SD card support.
And a month later, i've already bought another phone. From another brand. This one was my first and last Sony device. Playstore regularly crash. So does the Navigator, which I use MUCH more ofter than the playstore. It lags regularly, mixes my text messages between contacts, sometimes freeze and refuse to unlock, or restart, until plugged to it's charger (yes, even with a full battery).
It does have a rather good camera, the camera switch on the side is very convenient, the battery life is good (but as I compare to a Nexus...) and there are a couple of other good stuff.
But so many lags, crashs, failures? It's a mid-spec phone from 2015! This is a shame!
Mine will end-up on EBay now, and good luck to whoever will buy it.
Some people blame SONY SERVICE
OF course it is funny:)
Sony Servive offer SONY customers who undergo some issues hardwear or softwear...... it is merely normal
SONY SERVICE is to provide customers and solve customers' difficulty
It is the job to SONY service
Some trollers pointlessly blame to SONY service with fake issues
M-5ting, 21 Nov 2015I second this comment. Or just pay for z5.Z5 is more expensive than M5; so it's hard to get Z5 at the price of M5.
I have been using the fone for 5days now,the temp is warm most off the time, camera hanged once, led turned on by itself, but restart the fone fixed the problem, never had shutdown, cannot surf google play for long time,it'll close by itself, any suggestion from fellow users...anyway i think the specs on this fone are satisfying with the pricetag...overall i think its a good fone..btw i'm from Malaysia.
akki, 15 Nov 2015confused between m5 n z3+....which one should i buy?.....are the problems of m5 solved? You should definitely not buy a M5. Sony should recall the M5 and at least give us a opportunity to upgrade to a new model. Shame on Sony.
AnonD-424232, 18 Nov 2015u updated M5 once u bought? Problem on firmware but not battery...Sony should recall the phone and at least give us a opportunity to upgrade to a new model. Shame on Sony.
anj, 21 Nov 2015i recently bought this sony m5. the sales person gave me the unit and i told him that the came... moreIf you can get it replaced you should for the camera problems. As for the unexpected shutdown problems, it may exist with the new unit as well. Unless, you can convince them to let you get a new phone. I'd buy another model altogether.
AnonD-42603, 22 Nov 2015Is it safe to buy this phone now? Are the issues fixed already?my phone is still shutting down unexpectedly.
Hi, just want to know if the issues with this phone are already fixed. Planning to buy this next month.
The phone developed auto on/off problem right from the second day. the set was replaced by the customer care with a new one and within another two the same problem arose. Curious. the back side pasting is also coming off. Frustrating!
[deleted post]This phone will shutdown if you lost network signal for a long time. I have experienced this when in flight and forgot to set the phone into flight mode. On arrival, i cant swith it on. I have to plug it in my power bank before it switch on. This phone is not convinient for travelling. It might shutdown and it wont switch on with plugging into power source.
Hi, please tell me if the same shutdown problem exist in south africa. I have been looking for this phone for a week now.
i recently bought this sony m5. the sales person gave me the unit and i told him that the camera was not working. he went to the service center for a while and said that the phone needed to have some system update. when he got back, he told me that the phone os now ok and good to go. i walked out the store after few minutes, i checked if i can take a picture but it has this "error" message showing when you click on the camera . i went back to the store and ask the sales person why it happened he said that there's a problem with the unit and they will just replace it with a new one. he gave me a new unit. the camera was working . he told me something i didnt understand at first about putting the charger / plug when phone shuts off. i didnt mind it at first coz i didnt understand what he mean. then the next day, suddenly the phone shuts off. i was in the road, going to work and i was shocked my phone wouldnt turn on. i thought i dont have enough battery but my phone was fully charge when i lefty an hour ago. i saw a chargingf station and plugged it in. it immediately turned on. i was upset that the phone needed to be plugged in to a charger so you can use it again. what if its emergency and we dont have power banks available. its so frustrating! im still trying it on its 3rd day hoping not to experirence any problems. what do u suggest? do i need to go back to the store and get a different unit or phone? any suggestions pls?
