Bought it on 22nd September and over the holidays it rebooted by itself at least 20 times a day. The store suggested me to send to service center and did so 3 days after buying it. It has been there since and now over 1 month, service center says "still waiting for parts from Germany". Sony fucked up not only for the Z series it seems they've did the same on this one as well with all the comments I've read here. It's a shame... I've always been a Sony supporter since Sony Ericsson days and this kind of experience really destroys the brand. They should've recalled the M5, or replace with different model at least because it ruins the experience of owning a Sony.

i just have the issue and found the comment here. The phone suddenly hang. and very lag. Google maps just shut down half way using it. very lagging and unstable
About in the Philippines new purchase of this phone? I want to buy this but from the comments I've read here, there a little bit of hesitation :( Z5 Dual is too expensive, I choosing between M5 or Samsung's Note 5 but i am a active person that is why i want the waterproof capabilities + camera.

it's been a week now that my phone is in Sony Service Center and yet nothing they can do. the lady overthere told me that the problem with all M5s is because of the mainborad and she admitted that the phone has manufacturing problem. I asked to exchange the phone to another model since the price of Z3 is dropped and I can add up 100 $ to get that but they told me since it's been more than 7 days from the purchase date I'm claiming warranty, it's impossible to exchange phone. the other guy in sony center told me the cost of changing a main board is 2/3 of the price of the phone and I should insist on exchanging since it benefits the Sony not to change the part. still so pissed off, disappointed and confused with this stupid phone. the only statement of mine "I HATE SONY"
I bought mine last 8th of October. It died last 19th of October, won't turn off even if it's plugged in. They gave me a new one last 26th of October. I followed the comments here, didn't use the 4G setting. It still automatically shut down today. If there's no update in the next 5 months (bought it 6 months to pay), I'll sell it and buy a Z5. Too bad, I really like it, the camera is fantastic. But it looks like Sony didn't thoroughly test this before distribution.

Wow this many comments about this phone and issues - I bought mine a week ago and I have not had ANY issues whatsoever. Granted, I bought mine online via Hong Kong (Expansys) and it's "international version" but I have yet to have any issues anyone is talking about. And I have installed many games and apps, and have been using LTE and this phone as my main driver. I can't even seem to replicate all the issues mentioned in all of these comments. It's possible it's connected to a specific LTE band? As LTE is working fine here in the middle east.
Here in Philippines, Sony Xperia M5 was pulled-out temporarily due to its auto shutdown issues. Probably, Sony Xperia M5 will be available again on November. Hoping for a better resolution after its comeback. :)
Today i walk in to sony service center to get some information about my phone. The customer service man told me that my phone already in the sony service center HQ (here in Malaysia, HQ are based Kuala Lumpur). The HQ cannot do anything due no spare parts. Now they are waiting for the shipment come in around November. After that they need to install and test the phone. This will take a long day to get my phone back, but i hope the new hardware can clear all this mess. My expectation to get back my phone are early in December. For those who want to buy this phone i suggest buy it in 2016 !
After the issue of severe of screen bleeding and the issue of random shutdown, now the camera states that camera is not available even after power off and on again the phone and after clearing the data and cache,the camera still not available. This phone is the most problematic phone i've ever had
