Wow this many comments about this phone and issues - I bought mine a week ago and I have not had ANY issues whatsoever. Granted, I bought mine online via Hong Kong (Expansys) and it's "international version" but I have yet to have any issues anyone is talking about. And I have installed many games and apps, and have been using LTE and this phone as my main driver. I can't even seem to replicate all the issues mentioned in all of these comments. It's possible it's connected to a specific LTE band? As LTE is working fine here in the middle east.
Here in Philippines, Sony Xperia M5 was pulled-out temporarily due to its auto shutdown issues. Probably, Sony Xperia M5 will be available again on November. Hoping for a better resolution after its comeback. :)
Today i walk in to sony service center to get some information about my phone. The customer service man told me that my phone already in the sony service center HQ (here in Malaysia, HQ are based Kuala Lumpur). The HQ cannot do anything due no spare parts. Now they are waiting for the shipment come in around November. After that they need to install and test the phone. This will take a long day to get my phone back, but i hope the new hardware can clear all this mess. My expectation to get back my phone are early in December. For those who want to buy this phone i suggest buy it in 2016 !
After the issue of severe of screen bleeding and the issue of random shutdown, now the camera states that camera is not available even after power off and on again the phone and after clearing the data and cache, the camera still not available. This phone is the most problematic phone i've ever had

Anyone know Sony final solution? It is software or hardware failure of the set??
I am from the Philippines and bought my xperia M5 October 2, 2015. Im quite disappointed with this unit. It keeps shutting down whenever LTE sim is used. Sad, Sony had to place my unit in service center and I have to wait. trash
ash, 21 Oct 2015M5 dual sim user, for who facing same problem on auto shutdown randomly & canÂ’t turn on u... moreSupporting your hypothesis, as it must be shutdown when I left it in locker. Previously I guessed it related to power save mode which may be related to light sensor. Power management may be the key of problems.
This phone having 3GB RAM but its system app already using 700mb when restarted.
also I noticed that system app "smart backlight control" used 7.4mb when new restarted and then increased to 430mb after 3 days. so what will happen after a week without restarting this phone? why this system app "smart backlight control" used such amount of RAM. it looks like this app is connected when you click the " Mobile Bravia Engine 2" on image enhancement menu.
Mangkuk, 24 Oct 2015Where ur location. I'm also Malaysia user from Penang. Until now no info after I sent to Sony ... moreI am from Myanmar(Burma) and finally managed to negotiate with sony service manager, he offered me to chose new xperia handset(higher/lower model)except M5. So, I decided to get new Z2,which is old flagship model but better than faulty M5 in almost every aspects..Z2 costs less than M5 price nowadays(M5=465000kyats/Z2=450000kyats) The manager returned me 15000kyats(local currency)as a refund. Now, I am quite happy with Z2 and no more problems so on...thx Sony retailers.
Eveybody with this M5, you should ask local official dealers about exchanging stable/well-known xperia flagships models like Z2/Z3/Z5 with this one and (adding extra cash added for Z3/Z5).
Sony is really not sucked at all.Only the M5 series sucked!

AnonD-459207, 25 Oct 2015If this remedy proof ???Yes it works. I am also a victim of shut down issues . When I changed my network settings to GSM or wcdma/GSM the shut down issue was gone. My m5 now is working great. I was once replaced by m5 units before I read a solution in a forum in other site. Now I'm just waiting for Android marshmallow update.
