i have the same problem. just bought it a few weeks ago and last few days it started. cant start until plug in. this is irritating. their sony experia compact Z3 was good.

Specs wise it's incomparable go for the m5 latest and cheapear you buy a phone to handle latest application smoothly not to display to people around you

Until now no info after I sent to Sony service center. Also trying to call but nobody want to answer the calls. In Sems service online my device is mark as UNDER REPAIR. Its been almost 20 days now. Very badly impacted by auto shutdown and lost syatem time. Observed it is veey frequent when low network coverage where M5 need to increase transmit power to stay connected. SONY please do somethings quick else for sure this unit is once of the failure that cause Sony out of smartphone market in no time. Imaging I have 6 auto shutdown in one night and the unit I not even use for 60days.
I charge the battery twice from 1% but it never ends charging.
And stop on 97%... Even though I keep charger plugged it still 97%..
Why Sony is so slow in updating the software of M5. To those who are having shutdown problems. any body tried to change the sim card? Are you using original cut nano sim?
I experienced the same shutdown problem with my other old android but the sim was the culprit. Although the same sim was working good on other phone.

I am victim of M5 shutdown and some buggy issues too...very disappointed with this phone as a loyal fun of Sony since classic Xperia Z,which is amazing. I visited Sony service centre but they replyed me that thinking about exchanging new M5 handset..I already know this is not the solution. How can I get refund ?or what about upgrading to Z series(Z2/Z3) with this M5 from Sony officials. Feeling sorry for all M5 users..

I feel cosmetic solutions like this may help for the meantime but the root cause for problems in this model should be addressed immediately. I have an LTE subscription on my phone, therefore, this temporary solution of shifting to GSM only is not fair for me. Also, I read that they are rolling out an android upgrade in January 2016?... Are they kidding us...that long? What the heck? Sony is trying to treat us like fools...enough of this foolishness. They should refund all units purchased defective or allow an upgrade, plus extra cost,whatever the difference is to a better model.
