Sony repair center told me, it caused by the default firmware, which mean the phone actually not ready for sales in the market!! They can't fix my phone at the moment and ask me to wait for a few days!!! It is ridiculous

The staff told me all these problems were caused by the default firmware. They can't fix the phone at this moment and ask me to wait for a few days...... I believe Sony will update the firmware soon, but please don't put their product in the market if it is not ready! Sony sux
gvm, 13 Oct 2015Bought two units of M5 last Sep 19 but my husband and I encountered problems in less than two ... moreI have the similar problem. The phone can't charge up to 100% when it turn off. Battery die so fast, the phone always heat up. The worst is, it shut down suddenly and can't be switch off again unless plug it with the charger. My phone is kept by sony repair center now. They said it is the firmware problem which can't be fix at this moment. They ask me to wait for a few days. Few days passed, no news from Sony at all

My M5 is kept by the sony repair center since 11/10 until now. They told me there is problem with their firmware and couldn't fix my phone yet...... need me to wait for a few days.... and I still didn't get my phone back

(it suddenly switch off itself and can't turn it on unless you plug it with the charger) My phone is now kept by the Sony repair center, they told me they can't fix the problem yet, need me to wait for a few days..... its been few days already... very disappointed with the phone. Safe you money, I feel so regret to bought this phone.
I have this phone less than one week .. I encountered the problem with sd card ..when i moved apps to sd card swiftly I will get error message saying that the apps has stop and if i set the dafault storage in camera to sd card it's don't even save the circle keep spinning .. Don't even stop . I've format my memory card but it still the same .. I already updated to latest software .. Any solution ??

It will disappear once you will do the update. I just confirmed this with one of my friend who brought this recently. At first he had all these problems and he thought that it was a defective piece, but after update it had worked like charm. Just now I seen his phone and tested to confirm all those issues disappeared.
Also I ordered the phone today itself, may be i will get it after 2 days.

That's 3 tested handset with all the same problem.
Bought two units of M5 last Sep 19 but my husband and I encountered problems in less than two weeks of use. His phone shuts down on its own, even on a high battery level, and will only open if you plug with a charger. When it opens, date/time settings don't update automatically as it should. The store replaced it with another brand new unit but it has the same issue. My initial problem with my unit was lagging and hanging even there's no multiple apps running and it sometimes click random screen parts without me doing anything, but now it got worse when it started to have the same problem of turning off by itself. That's 3 units with the same problem. I hope sony can fix that because we love the phone,great cam and sounds. Going back to the store again tomorrow. What a hassle!

I was so regret to buy this M5 dual. Bough this phone 2 weeks ago, the battery could not be charged up to 100% while the phone was switch off, whenever it charged to 80%, the phone will stop charging. I took it to the HK Sony customer center and they canÂ’t give me an explanation for that. They gave me a report saying that there is not man caused damage and I took the phone to the retailer and exchange a new M5 dual. Same problem was found with the new phone and problem even getting worse, the phone will suddenly shut down (with more than 70% battery) and no matter what I tried, they phone canÂ’t be switch on again, unless I plug it with the charger. It shut down 3 times in a week and I was really piss of as I have dated my friend to pass him something and the phone suddenly shut down and I could not reach him at all. I went back to Sony customer center again and told their staff there should be a default factory problem with this M5 model and asking whether there is any solution. They just ask me to leave my phone to their technician for checkup. I told them 2 phones with the same problem and you really donÂ’t think it is a default factory problem? They couldnÂ’t give me a better answer but give me 2 choices, one is leave the phone to them or take the phone to the retailer and see whether they could offer me a new phone. I decided to leave my phone to Sony as the retailer didnÂ’t do anything wrong in this case.
They called me back today and admitted these 2 problems are all caused by the default software of the phone, they didnÂ’t tell me which software, but I believe is the default android written by Sony. They canÂ’t fix my phone by now and need to wait. (I donÂ’t know how long I need to wait) Why I should pay for a phone which has not been tested probably before it released to the market? Also, I really donÂ’t believe none of the staff in HK Sony customer service realize there is a default factory problem with their phone. I am totally disappointed with the product and also the after sales service provided by their staff.
Other than the above mentioned, the phone heat up very easy, the battery die so fast (compare to the Z1 compact and Z3 I had), sometime the apps will freeze the monitor and canÂ’t function even you press the return or home button.
Does percentage jumps when u restart your phone while charging? Is that normal? I need ur reply. Ty
