Great Design, Nice specs.
But no memory card slot rises a question mark whether to buy this or not?!!
Talk time is average only. Eventhough optimized chipset and white magic technology introduced, while coming to call usage the talktime should be atleast more than 7 or 8 hours. Experts can u advice on this??
The Sony Xperia P looks to be a great mid-range phone and may be a more economic choice than th Xperia S...8MP/HD camera, WhiteMagic technology, BRAVIA engine, Dual-core 1 GHz & sleek aluminium finish. There is no real need for External mermory as it should support cloud services such as Dropbox. The only con for me is that it will be shipped in Android v2.3 Gingerbread. So it would be best to wait until the 4.0 version is released... @siphotwit1
TL;DR for previous post
Xperia P has reduced battery size to keep the pphone size down
Xperia P has an efficient chipset and super efficient screen
Despite reduced battery capacity, will outdo any other phone out in the market with larger battery capacity at similar screen brightness settings
gagan , 29 Feb 2012why the hell battery capacity is reduced compared to previous year smart phoneBattery size has been reduced because of aesthetic reasons
Also, a larger battery size isn't necessary this time round, as the Novathor chipset is much more power efficient compared to the Qualcomms used in the 2011 Xperia range within the same power envelope
The whitemagic screen consumes the same amount of power as standard LCDs while being twice as bright, and consumes less than 50% of the power than standard LCD found on phones today at similar brightness settings
The screen of the Xperia P wouldn't even be used at 50% brightness (500cd/m^2) for the most part, and will more likely remain used at 30% at below, which accounts for its screen draining but 1/4 to 1/3 of what standard LCDs will at the same brightness at those brightness levels (take the Law of Diminishing Returns into account, if you even know what it means)
The P may have only a 1300mAh battery, but it'll easily outdo phones out today, with larger batteries like the Galaxy Nexus and Droid RAZR for example, by far.
RG, 29 Feb 2012We have to wait for the real usage expirience to be sure how efficient the WhiteMagic display ... moreI have a HTC legend, with basically the same internals and screen as the SE-X8 of my girlfriend. Her phone lasts a full 24h longer on a charge, and manages this with a 100 mAh smaller battery.
iLoveAdobo, 27 Feb 2012why u always put your name at the end? it irritates me.Nice phone with a perfect screen for me...however the body is too long for a 4 inch...waiting for the iphone 5!!!
Excellent at all, except the battery.
May this display eat less power?
Raul Pockdler, 28 Feb 2012What new does this bring, when compared to Galaxy S II. Infact the latter has a Super AMOLED P... morePathetic you are comparing a premium droid to a high end gs2.
Got the balls to compare u r gs2 with xperia s?
What, gs3 is coming? So is the flagship codenamed mint1 babe
No Card Slot would push it really BAD.
Sony you could have added it, good in price range of 20K but again no SD card!
why the hell battery capacity is reduced compared to previous year smart phone
Good: Best screen size, 8 Mpix camera with Exmor sensor, 1080 P video, dual core processor,...
Bad: no memory card, small internal memory 13 Gb, big length the phone is too long...
So nothing better than the GS2. It has to be cheaper than the 1 year old GS2 to succeed. But i doubt it because Sony execs think the brand Sony is still a luxury brand, like in the 90's
If it is reasonably priced will get it for sure. Perfect size and good features.
nice but why there isnt second microphone for stereo video recording!
chip xperia mini have 2!!!
sthardpro, 26 Feb 2012If we compare that is the iphone 4s killer ...I don't think so..
We have to wait for the real usage expirience to be sure how efficient the WhiteMagic display really is. We all know that modern smartphones juice their batteries primly by their displays and as I doubt WM can deliver 50% less power compsumption all the time, it could easily manage to be 30% less power hungry which means Xperia P could be better than many 1500 - 1700mAh devices on power efficiency. Also ST-Ericsson SoC is unknown on power efficiency too... so we really have to waith and see.
if this the flagship phone from sony for this year then its totally dissapointing!
Well done -sony team-
but very low battery 4 these Performance !?
maybe sony fans don’t care about the battery (:
