N Masurkar, 29 May 2013sony had cheated us saying that it has 1GB ram. It has only 636MB Ram. Wasted money of 29000... moreI guess all devices of all brands are like that. I think it is because of some background processes that cannot be killed(?) Like some necessary applications that helps maintain the phone. Go to settings, applications, then manage applications, select all and then you will see there system apps like overheat control etc... I think those apps consume the amount of ram missing.
To be honest... a piece a crap. After half a year after the phone was released they fixed 2g/3g as battery was lasting for half a day... also it was slow because of Sony stock (there are >10 apps just for facebook! - ridiculous). After changing ROM to CyanogenMod now I can stand this crap.

5.27.2013 Sony Germany says Xperia S Jelly Bean rollout has not started
We all got excited late last week when the Sony Mobile France social team said that the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Xperia S (LT26i) was rolling out. Obviously, that didn’t pan out and we’ve not heard of anyone downloading the latest update.
Well the Sony Mobile Germany social team has confirmed that their French colleagues were mistaken and that the JB update for the Xperia S has not started yet. Whilst the news might be disappointing to some, at least we can stop running around like headless chickens trying to figure out who has updated and instead wait for hard evidence of the rollout. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too much longer for some firm news on the matter.
