To answer my own question below ... you will only be able to use floating touch in the supplied browser in Android 2.3. ICS allows developers to utilise floating touch and build functionality into their browsers (may be slow to happen unless more hardware is about).
A shame the demo's do not include hover over popups.
Really good article on how it all works:
There are a bunch of articles referring to this as a full browser experience but that is wrong as there is no 'full drag' and as far as I know ICS does not properly support it either.
Phoenix, 25 Mar 2012Do you know that android 2.3 can just recognize and use about 340MB of the RAM.
so let's not ... moreDid not know that. What happens with phones with 1gb ram then?
Can you provide a link to the source of your information?
Do you have to use the browser supplied to get the benefits of the 'floating touch'?
Does floating touch use more battery?
Is it a feature that can be turned off?
I would have taken an extra 256ram over the floating touch.
I also prefer having 'full drag' browser functionality over 'floating touch'. It seems you have to buy an iPhone to get full drag :(
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2012why this model does not include Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine? Such a great miss..!It does has BRAVIA Engine. Gsmareana missed to mention. Few month before it missed to show GPU in live with walkman's spec.
Check sony official page, it has BRAVIA engine
why this model does not include Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine? Such a great miss..!
This is a perfect size for a mobile phone.anybody knows in which month it will be released and the price?
The Sony Xperia Sola is classed as "Powerful entertainment anytime, anywhere". Therefore I am sure this won't disspaoint regarding the speaker loudness or quality.
Some key official features;
- xLOUD Experience, audio filter technology from Sony
- 3D surround sound
- Clear bass and clear stereo
- Hard coated shatterproof sheet on scratch-resistant glass
- TrackID music recognition
Hey does xperia sola have a replaceable battery n whch 1 is better d nokia 701 or d xperia sola ?? Plz rply thnx in advnc.!
Do you know that android 2.3 can just recognize and use about 340MB of the RAM.
so let's not just prejudge about the performance of being 512.
Anonymous, 24 Mar 2012Yes, no stereo capability when playing music thru speaker like Live Walkman, but it does have ... moreCannot see 2 speakerphones...where are they and why not using them for music playback too ?
Really it is not good enough to make me replace my Defy+. It is 9mm taller and still only has 512ram (which I am beginning to push on my Defy+).
Why are phones getting bigger in relation to their screen size rather than smaller. Some of it would be due to the obsession with going ultra thin (which mathematically gives you a whole lot less volume to put hardware in).
I would prefer a non-Motoblur device. Can't someone please beat the Defy+ for size and RAM.
Does sola show any change in light to indicate notifications n cnt we play music using d 2 speaker phones like live wid walkman? So wat r they meant 4? Only communicatn purposes?? Plz cnfrm
Bilou, 24 Mar 2012I think the specs are wrong, Sony website does not say there are stereo speakers but only 3D ... moreYes, no stereo capability when playing music thru speaker like Live Walkman, but it does have 2 speakerphones - for communication features only.
I think the specs are wrong, Sony website does not say there are stereo speakers but only 3D surround sound in headphones...For me there is only one speaker, hope it is powerful.
Rmx, 24 Mar 2012Den whch 1 is better of d 3??
Neo v or ray or sola?
N does sola hv any change in light to in... moreBetween the NeoV and Sola, the Sola is the better overall machine
Similar size and screen res, but larger overall internal memory, and a faster CPU which performance difference will become more apparent when ICS is released
Despite a boxier shape, the Sola is surprisingly comfortable to hold, mainly because its edgs are rounded as opposed to being in a sharp angle
When it comes to the Ray however, it becomes trickier to compare, as they're not of the same size class
The Ray would still be more preferable for people who prefer a very small and compact Android phone that doesn't compromise much on performance, plus it has a camera that performs better in lower lighting conditions VS the Sola
The Sola's video recording however, does have better sound pickup VS the Ray's camcorder
One caveat that the Sola has VS the Ray and NeoV is the lack of a FFC though, so do take that into consideration if you tend to Skype a lot
Den whch 1 is better of d 3??
