with regards with clockspeed the higher the clockspeed the faster it will perform task. however at this rate 1.5GHz to 1.7GHZ you would hardly notice the difference in real life performance. so if you will choose between the two, i will choose 1.5GHZ quadcore as it has more cores to be able to perform multiple task at a fast speed without any lag. ram is also associated with multi tasking, and switching between apps. the more ram you have the more apps you can open at the same time. it works perfectly with the quad core processor of xperia ZL.
to sum it up. 1.5ghz quadcore with 2GB of ram is better than 1.7GHz dual core with 1GB of ram. 4 cores working together is better than just 2 cores. Twice as many cores; each additional core lets your phone do more without visible UI slow downs and jerkiness/lag
-better multi tasking
-2GB ram faster on switching between apps without slowing down.
-at 1.5GHZ speed it is already fast enough on performing taks you need. coupled with 4 cores you won't have any problem playing HD games

1.7 ghz dual core 1 gb ram vs 1.5ghz quadcore 2 gb ram
i am noob in phone specs
i would like to know which is faster and which is good in handling multiple apps
just disregarding the ram i would like to know if which clock speed with associated cores will be better for everyday use, as of this time i can only afford the sp, but i will be able to get enough for zl by the end of the month.
btw thanks for offering z but it is not included in my options, it has great slick design but all glass is not for me that's why i came with zl as an alternative
again i ask for your expert opinions since i have never been with sony since 2003, but i will be ending my crave for their xperia phones by this month

The firmware update 12.1.A.1.201 is available OTA on my phone.....but one thing......its size is just 9.4 MB, which has left me a tad surprised as it is much smaller than i expected......is it a similar size for all of you?

however instead of buying xperia ZL why not choose xperia Z? they almost have the same specs. but then Xperia Z is made of glass which made it look good and also it is water resistant. ZL is not
