Shant, 16 Nov 2013GPU is super performer....., Camera performance is slightly downside, Audio quality is average... moreya right,I tried using the Sony earbud headphone n guess what?It was awesome!! The bass, the clarity was WOW
First of its a solid built phone and it feels super sturdy. Unlike Samsung phones, the materials used for Xperia SPs construction are much better in quality. The display has an HD feel to it, everything appears is super crisp, colours are bright and vivid in nature. With the display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels on 4.6 inches display, results in pretty high pixel density of 319ppi where you cant spot any individual pixel with naked eye!
The CPU is from the latest generation of Snapdragon S4 Pro, Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait Processor and the Graphics processor is ADRENO 320 GPU is far more powerful than Galaxy S3's Mali-400MP GPU. You can play any graphically demanding HD games butter smooth. You can also use any kind of live wallpapers without causing lag.
The camera is good on daylight photos where you can capture really sharp and vivid looking photos. But low light capture can be better. The night shots which I have taken using this phone does have motion blur and a bit high noise in pictures. But that's due to the limitation of small sensors present on smartphone cameras which is applicable all smartphones not just this phones limitation. But for video capturing @ 1080p whether its day or night is really splendid. I really liked the quality of the 1080p video I captured.
The battery is 2370 mAh and will last for 1.5 days of relatively high use. But the full battery performance arrives only after a week or twos usage. I would say good battery life considering its powerful hardware, super bright 4.6 inch screen. And Its a good alternative to Galaxy S3.
My opinion on SP after using S3, Note 2, Nokia N9, lumia 520.
Touch : Excellent
Build : Excellent
OS : Excellent
Speed : Excellent
Size / comfort: Excellent (Optimum to hands)
Display : Good
S'apps : Good
Battery : Above Average (Stamina mode with while list)
Add apps required to whitelist in stamina mode.
Camera : Average
Wi Fi : Average (Coverage area compared to S3)
Heat : Very minimal
Hope this helps to buy new phone.
After uaing almost 2 months I sell sp and buy s4 mini.im happy with s4 mini
Sorry for the long post, this is complete review as to why I preferred getting this over Nexus 4.
One of the BEST MID RANGE phones, didnt want to go with the previous year flagship phones ( which cost arnd the same like Nexus 4 & Galaxy S3); wanted a new product with a Powerful GPU or equivatent to N4 or S3.
This midrange phone has GLOVE MODE: very convenient and effective in use. I wear gloves when I ride my bike, sometimes use maps etc, it helps a lot.
Antutu Benchmark leaves the rest of the phones in the similar price range like Nexus 4 & Galaxy S3 behind by quite a margin, I got a score of around 21000.
Dual Core 1.7 Ghz is performing well no probs till date. Regularly play Asphalt 8 along with Whats App & a few apps which i forgot to close in the background.
Nowadays you can get a Quad core for around 8k if you want the tag of Quad core so badly.
Yes I don't think SP will get the 4.4 Kitkat update, purely buy this phone if you like the features, Android OS should not matter if the current OS is Satisfying your needs. Jelly Bean should comfortably last another 2 years or more, buy a new phone after that.
I have the Xperia SP for about 2 months. I had experienced the touch being unresponsive or more exactly - unpredictive till the moment I have discovered that the device comes with "Glove mode" ON in the "Display" settings ( can't explain why it is there ). The moment you turn it OFF ( uncheck the checkbox ) everything becomes standard and easy to use.
Other than that Pros : sturdy , descent bang for a buck. Cons : bit heavy , and I do feel the metal frame on my year ( Atrix HD plastic is nicer on the outside design ).
Generally - happy with the device.
