Sony Android Touch UI Rumors

A couple of UA profiles recently popped up on the Sony Mobile website. They are for yet unofficial smartphones, carrying the model number ST27i and ST27a. Presumably those are just the international and the US-bound version of the same device.

The information extracted from the leaked profiles reveals a smartphone based on the ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset with a 1GHz dual-core processor and a Mali-400MP GPU. The other thing we learn from these profiles is the display resolution of the upcoming handset - FWVGA (854x480px).

The last bit of info is rather disappointing – Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, but this might as well change to Ice Cream Sandwich before launch.

The previously released rugged Xperia Active has ST17 for model name, which led to speculations that the ST27 might be an Active successor. We'll have to wait for a while to see the Sony ST27 go official, but we'll keep you posted if any new info about it pops up.
