Therion, 15 Jan 2014What sony put IPS display on their phones? how? why?Because IPS has great contrast and better viewing angle, actually, 178 degree. Got it, friend?
Definitely, a thin bezel device from Sony (ZL came first) with IPS and better camera than Xperia Z Ultra. I love it! Be Move!

When I first read the specs, I thought "Hmmm, Grand 2 and Lumia 1320 competition." Then I found at some sites the expected price. I think $550 is almost flagship territory.

Sony is made for design and quality...and present to premium and classy customer. unlike others....
go super amoled screen
I've re-read the specs list of this phablet, looking at the PPI levels (still of a good spec)and the fairly big battery, this phone should work nicely without draining too quickly either battery or rams. In the looks department it certainly looks the part of a thoughtful design as now usual by Sony. To be fair, this model has everything going for it for a mid-ranger, but as i mentioned earlier, I see the price tag as the main factor that will make this phone either a resounding success or not. Let's wait and see what Sony will do.

AnonD-129221, 15 Jan 2014I'm guessing around $500... for the first wave. But it will go down fast, given the context.Yes, the expected price is said to be below $550. That is quite expensive for just 720p, cortex a7, and just 1gb ram.

Good to see Sony is switching to IPS LCD.
Want to see a solid performance from Sony in 2014.
This is precisely the form factor I was expecting. I played with an Xperia Z Ultra and it felt a bit too big (albeit very very slim!), partly due to its large bezels. This one has solved the issue (we still need a place to rest our thumb on!). So the physical specs are perfect, 6 inches and everything else!
Now waiting (like many others, I believe) for an Xperia Z2 Ultra - same form factor, 1080 p, 2 or 3 GB RAM (two is enough for now: I'm a power user, except for games - this includes cloud syncing, editing, image editing etc. and I have NEVER managed to kill my Xperia Z. Nor have I reached values above 1,5 GB RAM.) Better CPU would be lovely, triluminous display and a humongous battery, and I'll buy it tomorrow.
