You have to compare Tipo with Galaxy mini 2. I haven't tried Tipo yet, but as they have the same specs and Tipo being cheaper and having ICS, i guess Tipo is the winner here.

Comparison:

Xperia Tipo (with factory screen cover) VS.
Galaxy Y (with anti-glare screen protector)
It turns out Xperia Tipo has better sunlight legibility than Galaxy Y.

I downloaded sony xperia tipo manual from google.according to it tipo has 2 proximity sensors and a notification led but further in the manual it is written that it has ambient light sensor.

Well about ICS on the tipo, I don't think that it will provide all features of ICS. The newer kernel is better and the benchmarks are surely better, but you should know that benchmarks are based on small differences. I mean you wouldn't even notice that a script takes 10ms or 20ms to execute on any phone, the benchmark will say that the phone having an execute time of 10ms is twice as better than the phone that has an execute time f 20ms. So, don't look at benchmarks. IMO the xperia mini with GB is far better than the tipo with ICS. ICS has been over hyped as far as I can see. It is an improved version no doubt about it, but you also have to see that the handsets having ICS are providing it's full features or not. The only good thing which you will get is folders on your home screens and an improved task switcher. The main thing is the internal changes, the changes in the libraries which you will not notice in general life. And as far as the data monitor app is concerned, there are plenty of such apps in the market. If you are concerned about the availability of more number of apps for ICS then think twice, there are only a handful of apps which run only on ICS. The GB user percentage is still around 57%, so apps for GB will keep coming for more than 2 years from now and the huge number of apps which are presently in the market are not going anywhere. So, I don't think having ICS or GB makes much difference in real life. The tipo is one of those handsets which lets you say that I have ICS but doesn't give you it's full power. If you want to see what really ICS is then you should watch some videos on youtube for the Galaxy Nexus which has vanilla ICS, then you will understand what I am talking about. As far as I can say, the handset is overpriced at present and should come down to 8k in 2-3 months.

i heard ics 4.0.4 in xperia phones have LED notification problems, when msg comes LED does not working if screen is lock.what about Tipo? Reply someone who have 4.0.4 in their tipo.

Even if its on standby or lock mode and theirs a message the notification light( blue for message turn on) and including message alert tone( both working at the same time) sometimes when I'm busy doing something outside the house, I can't hear its message alert tone, the blue blinking light lets me know that I have a message.

Xperia tipo's touch is good and I only use light touch to change from one screen to another. Also I still have the plastic protection from the factory attach to it , because their still no xperia tipo screen protector for now( because its new ).
