It's not crap. It's dual sim standby (UMTS+GSM or GSM+GSM). Both sims are ready to receive calls and sms at the same time--not unless you disable one sim. If you answer an incoming call from one sim, the other sim will be TEMPORARILY turned off while the call is active on the other. If you don't want to miss a call from any of the 2 sims, just activate CALL DIVERT WHEN NOT REACHABLE for both sims so that the TEMPORARILY disabled sim will divert calls to the one on a call.

It's not crap. Default setting out of the box is 1 sim on, the other off.

Only 1 sim(primary sim) can be used for 3g(UMTS) and the other as regular gsm 2g.

this is a dual sim standby ph. it means that ur both sim'll active in same time, u can receive call/msg in both sim, u can make outgoing call 4m both sim. who care wht happen when u r bussy while talk in any1 number & same time other call has come in another number? dont think so much guys, be happy. sony xperia tipo dual is best for sony's admirer. just go 4 it.

beetlejeusse, 09 Aug 2012what do you mean not dual active? cant be both sims idle at the same time and receive calls?In tipo dual (which is dual standby) u will be able to receive calls on any of ur two numbers(sims) while the phone is idle.
But if any of ur sim is active(i.e. If u r on a call on any 1 sim) and then some other person calls u in second sim he'll not be able to.
While in dual "active" standby devices(like nokia ashas or galaxy ace duos) if other person calls u on the other sim his calls will automatically be forewarded to ur active sim and u can put him on hold or talk to him(while putting other caller on hold) depending on his/her relevence.
That's the only diffrence between these two dual sim technologies.

This is a Dual SIM Standby. If one SIM is in use (e.g. conversation) the other one is off. I asked the customer service of Sony.
