A full-size SIM is the same size as a credit card, which mobile phones have not used for many years now. Most phones currently and in recent history (including the Xperia U) use mini-SIMs, though a few (mostly Apple) are moving to micro and nano SIMs, primarily to make it more awkward to switch networks.

You will need Sony PC companion for the update. You may not receive any indication regarding the update availability directly to your Xperia U
