sam, 30 Apr 2013ash008 plz. tell me the entire procedure for rooting unlocking bootloader n installing experie... moreafter rooting, you can install many custom roms without unlocking bootloader because if u unlock bootloader u lose warranty but to again relock the bootloader is given xda developers too so u can get ur warranty back easily...if u want to unlock bootloader after rooting, inform me...but the most important thing is that download flashtool for xperia phones and follow step by step procedure because there is some minor risk involved in all this...(around 1-2% only)...
sure friend...i followed this procedure...
Firstly i had gingerbread 2.3.7 on my xu...my warranty is still 6 months due..i felt the urge to use ics on my xu...but since i dont have internet at my home,i downloaded xperia flashtool from xda developers...flashtool is the most necessary utility so download it...next i downloaded the latest ics firmware available in my country for xu(it was ics 6.1.1.b.54)...now to flash ics head over to xda site or do a google search...flash ics using falshtool..i ll just tell u the procedure in very brief if u want that later(plz tell me if u want) or if u have a fast and stable internet at home, directly use sony pc companion to upgrade(totally hazzle free...then i used it for a few days abd again got bored(also the phone used to lag when browsing net) so i decided to root my phone and use custom roms and kernels because u can unroot your phone whenever u want...for this u again head to flashtool and connect your phone to pc...press the "open lock" button and follow all the steps very carefully to root ur phone in no time...but during rooting i was in for another shock...somehow the version 1.1.b.54 that i flashed is non rootable by ordinary methods but you will not have any problem in rooting b.1.1.10 which is one previous to .54...if you have .10 ics in your phone, just use flash tool directly and if you have .54,reply me back and i ll tell you step by step procedure to root .54 version but if u have .10,no point in confusing you for no reason...

so did you disable any built in apps in ics before it appeared, or the black strips in 720p video was already there in the stock untouched ics right after the update?
I got doubt whether it happend as a result of me disabling several bulit in apps in ics. I did it right after the update as well before checking whether there was this problem.
so is there anyone else who got problem playing 720p videos in xperia u.
several black strips or lines appearing in the video, when the frames move faster, as if xperia u lacks RAM or something.
yeah i encountered the same problem, the strip while watching video in 720p mode. but it can be fixed sometimes, in my case, i cleared some software and it fixed.
the other problem in U, the camera has a purple spot and in ICS, the autofocus can take a long time (5 to 15 seconds) before the shot. it is a pain in an ass. but the camera quality is fine with me although it isn't perfect.
i think you better choose U. my friend bought j and in two weeks time, her J have some problem, the J cannot be turn on and it takes a very long time for the service centre to fix it. in my friend case, it took two months. and J only has single core. unlike U which has dual core.
hope you choose the best. ;-)
regards, xperia U users.

Good phone to Purchase... sometimes shows low memory. Only inbuilt memory of 8 GB is there. Hence use your memory wisely otherwise phone will become low. now 9 months have gone . sometimes its get hanged .But otherwise looks/other hardware is good./ camera is also good.
At the end good phone to buy but also watch out for Micro Max Canvas series.

Ashi, 25 Apr 2013I purchsed this phone in April and facing so many problems. Speaker is not good enough and I'm... moreits a bug in xperia u buddy.
the only solution I found was to forget the network in phone and turn off the WiFi modem. restart the phone and after a few seconds turn the modem on again.
worked for me every time.
